About this ebook

This book is for anyone who has had their heart broken, soul wounded, faith tested, abandoned, rejected, or has suffered blow after blow, asking, "Can I get up? And even if I can eventually stand, how can I walk out and not let those blows, fire, and ashes show up in my tomorrow?" I don't want to look like, smell, or feel like what I've been through. Or maybe you're fighting with the shame and guilt of backsliding. You know God, but you keep hearing it's your fault because you're not strong enough. That's a lie from the pits of hell. First John 1 says that "it is true that we should walk with and talk with God continuously, and when we sin, confess it, and the blood of Christ cleanses continually." Because Revelations 12 says that "the enemy continually deceives and seduces the earth's inhabitants. He who brings charges against men and women day and night has been thrown out of heaven."

And they overcame and conquered him because of the lamb's blood and because of their testimony's word, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when faced with death. (Revelations 12:11)

Healing is a part of the work, but wholeness is the complete work; healing is a gift from God for His own, but wholeness is labor built by intention. I realized that my pain/cross was meant to be my oil or my mission of contributing to the world. This book addresses the false sense of security, the disillusioned identity, the emotionally scared, and the effects of scarcity of all other things, which seek to make us forfeit our power by using excuses and cycles. Until we are confronted and exposed by receiving God's Word, we are blind, deaf, lamed, and spiritually dead. I am encouraging all those who want to find themselves to start with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They came together, in the beginning, to make us partakers in God's work to have dominion on earth and to expand the kingdom of heaven on earth, which that commandment will never be retracted.

    About the Author

It has been a long time coming, but before I tell you about the breakthrough, let me tell you where I am coming from! At thirty-two years old, I have attained a good measure of the mercy, grace, truth, and salvation of Christ Jesus and have felt the love of God! Let me tell you about it. The reception of salvation and the effectiveness of processing the pain and being transparent about how life has marred me. The practicality of deliverance reveals we are responsible for exposing our darkest experiences, but that God is close enough to heal us, freeing us from chains of bondage. To become one with Christ Jesus in divine likeness and power, which is the inheritance of God.

My mission is to help you understand the practicality of deliverance. The transparency I will display will be to your benefit; the purpose is to walk alongside you to allow you to begin your process. May you be encouraged to look within yourself to find the core issues and take them before the fountain of restoration. Jesus paid the price for our sins on Calvary. Ephesians 4:4 says, There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism… We all have an assigned cross to bear in life—pain, trauma, or unsolicited dysfunction—that God has chosen for us to carry to Him. For His glory, that those around you may see you as a witness of God's glory.

Heads up, this will be emotionally brutal, but know that I'm speaking from the other side of the pain; I'm speaking from the joy of mourning, the beauty of ashes, and the anointing from wrestling with God for this transformational healing. [I read about Jacob wrestling with God at the top of the mountain at Mount Peniel, meaning facing God. I've been there. At points, I felt like Peter when he stepped into the water to go after Jesus, courageous yet sinking. Bold yet oblivious to the depths beneath my feet.] I will be sharing a lot of scripture because the Bible says in Proverbs 9:10 that …the fear of the Lord… God is the beginning of wisdom, and the …knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (I'm saying until we respect the glory and authority of God over us, we cannot know the capacity of the power that the crucifixion of Jesus Christ offered to us. Or in John 16:33 [KJV], These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.) Because we are made in HIS IMAGE AND LIKENESS, we will have to come to the knowledge of our being and God's will for our lives—to become a cocreator, fulfilling the things set aside for us to do. We also need the Word of God, the knowledge of the injunction (definition: an authoritative warning or order). The example given by Jesus, He is the Word made flesh. The walking Word of God exemplifies the perfection of our intended creation.

I want to share this revelation with you at the beginning of this book, and I need you to have this perspective while reading this book and as you reflect on your own past experiences. One, you need to understand that we are made by God for the glory of God, and that glory is the sharing of the testimony of your personal experience of God. Those who choose to submit to the power of God, we have the perplexing desire to share our experience and the commission to spread God's light throughout humanity. The mystery of reconciliation is, How do I position myself to get back into the flow of God after life has hurt me so bad and changed me? Let me say that initially, it was not supposed to be this way. Read Proverbs 22:6, which says that we should bring up our children in the way of the Lord. Let's consider our own upbringing. Did you have exposure to God? Or were you exposed to chaos and pain and left to figure life out on your own? Those emotions are transmitted into energy, and that energy can be distributed into many negative actions. Self-sabotaging behavior is tied to a lack of boundaries. God refers to a person without boundaries as, in His Word, a city without walls.

The title of this book may seem strange; I assume that you are asking, Where is the connection of irony between the psychiatric definition of identity crisis and Identity Christ Exes? You may also ask the following questions: (1) How is an identity adopted, (2) Who or what is a Christ, or (3) What do exes mean? I do not want to assume you know, so I will explain. The psychiatric term identity crisis' definition says, To a period of uncertainty and confusion in which a person's sense of identity becomes insecure, typically due to a change in their expected aims or role in society. That definition seems more like a progressive and potentially constant state of being for most people, not just an exclusively temporary state of consciousness. Furthermore, the definition of identity is the fact of being who or what a person or thing is. Sameness, oneness, state of being the same," from the Latin word idem, meaning the sameness. The manifestation of good and negative experiences in life has the potential to transform into joy and/or pain. People close to one another can express life's experiences differently and at different extremes. It is not that anyone asked for pain, but life happens and is not always on your terms. Pain is inevitable, but the perception of the memories will ultimately keep you in bondage or become a memorial of the memories and a token of survival. Many times in the Old Testament, when we see name changes, there is a process of sacrifice, correction, or an encounter with God speaking to them about their current state of being. Then it follows-up with His rhema word, the Word that speaks to the Spirit of a person, which is the nature of consciousness of a person (ex., Peter recalling to himself the Word that Jesus had spoken to him, prophesying the denial of Christ in the garden). The revelation exposed Peter to a part of himself that he didn't like, the Simon (his common name); and though it was painful to face, it was good that Christ intentionally spoke to it for the benefit of Peter. Christ had already told Peter he would become the rock of the church, and if that blind spot was left unaddressed, it could have been a footplate for the enemy to continuously access Peter. Christ Jesus revealed in Luke 22:31 (The Last Supper)—while addressing the disciples' desires to reign over one another and correcting their mentality—Peter as His first man, Simon. He says, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not…" (Luke 22:31–32 KJV).

And Jesus says, When thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren (Luke 22:32 KJV). Just as Satan wanted to sift Peter, Jesus said to him, "I prayed that your faith fails you not. Know that Christ is your advocate." In Ephesians Chapter 6, Paul expresses the need to put on the whole armor of God to withstand the devil's wiles. Wiles means devious or cunning strategies employed in manipulating or persuading someone to do what one wants. Versus the logos Word, which represents the substance of the Word or the scriptures of the Holy Bible (doctrine). The revelation that you are connected to God then shall supersede (definition: to take the place of; replace or supplant) the first nature, the sinful being. Ultimately, breakthrough or transformation of their divine state of being was completed, or their identity was manifested.

I am going to share a life hack revelation about the process of reversion and the power of perception. Also, I will expose the variables that stood in the way of me becoming who I am meant to be by God. [Quick add-in: my nine-year-old daughter, Envi, asked me a profound question while we were leaving Church last Sunday. She asked, Mom, why don't I remember who I was with God? My heart smiled, knowing that she is already on a path of collision to experience the power of God, that illuminating light that wills to work within by searching the things of God. Or as James says in James 4:8, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.] That hunger and thirst are precisely what kept me throughout my life, not that I was consistent but, because I was exposed, the seed of the kingdom of God was made known in my heart. Not that I chose God but that He set me apart and chose me from the foundations of the world. But why? Who am I? (I have heard people repeatedly say, You don't know who you are.") Honestly, I'm still waiting for the revelation.

So the basic understanding of identity is due to the external and internal factors I'm summarizing. Still, I have an issue with this because most of these circumstantial variables were not preferred situations or even favorable terms for healthy development. Facts change and people evolve, so how can identity be projected from factors outside of God? We do not connect this to having a consistent struggle with acceptance within ourselves. That's the complication, or ultimate deception, that the enemy projected on Eve. Life gets complicated because depending on who tells you who you are or what you need to be, XYZ, we seem to be lost sheep in need of a shepherd. Your life trajectory can be unstable if the experiences of your youth or the environment of your upbringing control how you make decisions in the present until you hear the truth and not the facts. Because the truth does not change, it's solid and anchoring, a foundation that can be built upon; the Bible tells us that Christ is both the truth and the foundation. He is also a carpenter: a carpenter constructs, repairs, and installs the framework and structure of a building. Metaphorically, that structure is the law of nature, and we are the buildings of God made in His image and likeness. Life's events are circumstantial or divine depending on your proximity to the truth and your perception of those experiences. I have a mind to see the intention of Satan exposing Adam and Eve to the tree of knowledge. Because they were filled with God, without knowledge of good and evil, he was a nonfactor; and like I said, how do you become what you don't have knowledge of? Exposure is another crucial factor in the level of evolution, so I had to be very intentional with my time and mind when I needed healing. I encourage you to take advantage of this book by using my story as a guide to sorting out your facts. Eventually, you will reach the point of going to God with your issues and possibly, at the same time, a therapist, counselor, and church. Communion has benefits: the sources are interchangeable, and it's all to God. When you speak about the pain, healing begins, and also the process of deliverance. It will lead to the sanctification and receiving Christ as the savior of your being (the Atonement), which is God's salvation. (Christ redeeming humanity from the fallen state of being is the redemption of humanity's intended identity.)

So by the definition of identity and belief, it seemed okay for me to show up in life looking like everything that I had experienced for a 1) period, 2) based on a sense of emotion, 3) expectations based on my circumstances and conditions, and 4) the description society places on me. Those are four obstacles, and I'm barely getting started. Just think on that for a while: How can I live life as a whole being when all these factors are either reactive, reminiscent, or pretensive? It is impossible to develop or become what you never knew was an option. Based on the definition alone, your identity is a hoax or is deceptive. Now when I looked up the definition of Christ in the Hebrew language, it says, "according to Wikipedia, Christ comes from the Greek word Christos, meaning ‘anointed one.'" The Word is derived from the Greek verb Chrio, meaning to anoint in Greek Septuagint. Christos was used to translate the Hebrew Messiah, meaning one who is anointed. Now exes is 1) one who formerly held a specific position or place, 2) sold directly from, or 3) without excluding.

Scripture says in Ephesians 2 several fundamental verses. First, Paul talks to us about the state of being of those who have yet to return to Christ, and he exposes the one who controls those outside Christ. Simultaneously acknowledging that all have fallen, and because of our nature, we are the predecessors of the first ex-human beings, vulnerable to the principalities or dark powers at work. Exes applies when acknowledging that we are made by God, for God, but until we are born again (John 3:3–8). We cannot see the kingdom of God. Also, keep reading Ephesians 2, and you will know that we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. The presence of sin signifies the detachment of our Creator. Why? If God knows all things, our weaknesses, and the opposition, why did He let us come down here and experience pain? I understand those questions, and I need to expose you to this truth before we get into my story and to help you process yours. The existence of darkness does not weaken the LIGHT (read John 1:5). The truth is, light is all the more potent in the presence of shadows and darkness. The light is truth and hope, the shadows are the temptations, and darkness is the manifestation of evil.

Now this revelation aligns precisely with the scripture of Jeremiah 1:5 (words he redirected in his youth): Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, ‘Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou came out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations (Jeremiah 1:4–5 KJV). Afterward, Jeremiah initially received his conviction to speak to the people, and he was apprehensive; Jeremiah's experience of obedience rendered a life of hardship. Jeremiah brings his issues of displeasure before God privately, and not before the society; he was set apart to speak God's Word to those assigned to him. This following scripture, we see a set-apart prophet talking to a separated people. God is speaking in this scripture, saying, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord…" (Jeremiah 29:11–14 KJV). God managed their destruction with the anticipation of extracting their iniquity in exchange for rebuilding and correction. Now which definition is more suitable for restoration, the one that labels you, or the Word that knew you before you knew yourself? It's glorious NOW, but I went through some extensive regression, continuous mind renewal, and breath-taking demolition of habits and mindsets. Now I know why God allowed it all to happen. Let's talk about it!

What brought me to this place of revelation? Like Jacob, I have seen God on the path of pursuit several times before, and heaven had even opened up to me the same way it had for Jacob on a mountain in Genesis 28:10–19. Like Jacob, after spending years pursuing my own will, I returned to the spot and found myself wrestling with God for a new identity. (As I write this, Tasha Cobbs, you know my name came on! I will talk about
