    Dedication

I dedicate this book to the Holy Spirit for teaching me the mysteries of God’s Word. Because I am connected to the Father, the Kingdom of God is within me.

    —Martha C. Brown

    Introduction

Since my salvation in November 1991, I had a deep desire to fulfilling the Great Commission. For years, I attended church every Sunday—participating in activities, doing the church thing, and believing I was doing the will of God. Over time, though, I began to feel stagnant in my walk with Christ. I lacked the confidence to pray out loud, much less for others. I watched Christian television for other teaching and to improve my knowledge of God’s Word, but what I found for the most part were people teaching different doctrines and begging for money. I was left confused and crippled in my spirit. I had to make a course correction or risk reverting back to my spiritual state at the time of my salvation.

In 2006 I underwent surgery, and then my father contracted pneumonia. My surgery went well however, my dad did not recover from his illness. The ten months I spent caring for my dad were the most challenging in my life. I read the Bible like I’d never read it before—in the spirit. It was during this intimate time with the Lord that the Holy Spirit began to reveal the mysteries of God. Scriptures I had read for years had new meaning. For the first time since my conversion, I understood that I am a Disciple of Christ and, as a Disciple, I have the same authority He did to fulfill the Great Commission: My territory is the world, not only on the earth, but in the heavens (spirit), and it is my charge to take back those territories that were occupied by demonic forces. My assignment as a DISCIPLE is to fulfill the Great Commission. I was not called to sit in church but to go into the world, physical and spiritual, to convert lost souls to Christ, and to teach them how to live an abundant life on earth. It was through this personal Bible study that I wrote the notes for this book.

The first revelation I received addressed my paradigm regarding the function of the Church. Through this revelation, I realized that the Church is not just a hospital for those who are sick in their bodies and spirits; it is a military installation (strategically located in the battle zone), equipping new recruits (DISCIPLES) with weapons (the Word of God), engaging in tactical training (prayer and spiritual warfare) to fight in the battle to take back territories (physical and spiritual) that were once occupied by Satan through demonic forces.

The second revelation I received regarded the need to re-examine my own salvation experience in order to strengthen and solidify it. If you’re saved under one denomination, and then transfer to another church under a different denomination, your salvation experience may be in question; some churches may, whether overtly or covertly, convince you that you are not truly saved unless you were saved under their oversight. My walk with Christ is a relationship, not a religious experience bounded by rules and tradition.

As I sought the Scriptures regarding my healing, I was led to the study of Kingdom Authority, or Authority in God’s Kingdom. It was at this moment in my personal Bible study that I received revelation knowledge regarding His Word and, as a result, my spirit and soul began to transform rapidly. During my transformation—which continues to this day—I read the Scriptures with conviction and authority, prayed more effectively and with boldness, developed the confidence to pray for others, developed a heightened awareness in discerning manipulation, and activated the prophetic gift.

Acquiring revelation knowledge from the Holy Spirit is a journey, one in which it takes a lifetime to begin to understand God’s nature. As I share my notes with you, it is my prayer that the Holy Spirit reveals God’s tactical plan for conquering sin and defeating the enemy in your life and the lives of those around you.

You will find that some passages of Scripture are repeated. This is no mistake; sometimes the same principles need to be stated in different ways to get understanding, and sometimes different revelations are gleaned from a single passage of Scripture.

And so begins the journey . . .

Everyone who has made a conscious decision to follow Christ has an enemy. He was always the enemy, but because you were below the radar, you had no importance. Once you made the decision for salvation, dedicating your life to follow Christ, you became a target for destruction. He goes my many names—Satan, Lucifer, devil. His ultimate plan is to separate or sever the relationship between you and God, the Father, through Jesus Christ. Satan’s agenda for man in contrast to Christ’s agenda for man is outlined in John 10:10. The words in Greek are enclosed within brackets [ ].

    John 10:10

The thief does not come except to steal [klepto], and to kill [thuo], and to destroy [apollumi]. I have come that they may have life [zoe], and that they may have it more abundantly [perissos].

    Satan’s agenda for MAN

Satan’s plan is to STEAL your identity by bringing confusion into your life so you don’t know who you are. If you have to go to others for validation, Satan has stolen your identity. Why? Man can be wrong, your fleshly desires can be wrong, but the Holy Spirit is never wrong. Man will tell you to wait, but the Holy Spirit will tell you to move forward. If you seek purpose and direction in others, you are not seeking the SOURCE, who is Jesus Christ. The power (Greek: exousia, dunamis) of Jesus Christ comes from reading, studying, and applying HIS WORD.

Satan’s plan is to KILL your desire by bringing circumstances into your life to distract you from your purpose. Have you ever had the experience that, at the moment you know what God called you to do, all hell breaks loose? You have trouble on the job, you or a loved one gets sick, your kids get into trouble, or maybe a situation occurs that forces you to focus all your time and energy in resolving it and, when you’re finished, weeks or months have passed, leaving you to ask yourself, Where has the time gone? Know that these events mask the SPIRITUAL ATTACK from demonic forces. You have AUTHORITY in the spirit realm to command those demons, and that spiritual authority was given to you by Jesus Christ. There is a divine purpose in your life and you can achieve that purpose through persistence, determination, and keeping your eyes on Jesus.

Satan’s plan is to DESTROY your spirit, separating you from the love of Jesus Christ and all His promises and benefits. The power of Jesus Christ brings RESTORATION out of destruction. Restoration is done either by (1) creating something out of nothing, or (2) restoring life to that which was once dead. Regardless of how bad your situation is, there is a plan for RESTORATION through Jesus Christ.

    Christ’s agenda for MAN

Jesus came that man can live an abundant life on earth, but more so than the unbeliever (those who do not follow Christ). The Greek word for life is zoe, meaning life real and genuine, active and vigorous, devoted to God. What makes a rich unbeliever different from a middle-class Believer in Christ? It is zoe, that life connected to the Father. The Greek word for abundant is perissos, which means superior, extraordinary, surpassing and uncommon. Those connected to the Father are not supposed to experience lack, depression, anxiety, fear, or any of the other things experienced by those who are not connected to Him. If you are going through emotional challenges, it is my prayer that, after reading this book and studying the principles set forth in it, you will be set free from spiritual and emotional bondage.

    How did you receive SALVATION?

In a typical teaching, a person who believes and confesses that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He came to save mankind from eternal damnation is called a Christian or a Believer (in Christ). Salvation ensures that your soul will be saved from hell after physical death. Evangelism 101 goes something like this:

ADMIT you are a sinner. To sin is to have a thought life and actions that are contrary to the principles of God. Sin separates you from God’s divine communication.

    Romans 3:23

. . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

BELIEVE that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, and through this death He forever paid for your sins.

    John 3:15-17

¹⁵that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. ¹⁶For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. ¹⁷For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

RECEIVE salvation from sin and eternal damnation (after physical death) through Jesus Christ by asking Him to come into your heart and become your personal Savior.

    Romans 10:8-13

But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach): ⁹that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ¹¹For the Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame. ¹²For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. ¹³For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.

This three-step process, in one form or another, is noted in many tracts and books. Is it enough only to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God? I pondered on this for some time in preparation for this book. Then, as if I received revelation knowledge from the Holy Spirit, the answer came:

To say someone is a Believer implies that the soul is saved from eternal damnation. However, more is required: an outward manifestation of Christ’s principles and teaching. A Believer becomes a DISCIPLE when he understands God’s Word and APPLIES it. Application comes from a change in what a Believer says and how a Believer lives. His behavior should be different from the world. His presence should be subtle yet profound because of the CHRIST living in them. Everything he does must be in alignment with fulfilling the Great Commission.

This distinction between Believer and DISCIPLE is a key to being positioned to operate in Kingdom Authority, or Authority in God’s Kingdom. A Believer recognizes Christ is Savior and Lord. A DISCIPLE studies the Scriptures and applies the principles of the Kingdom taught by Jesus Christ.

An additional step is TRANSFORMATION of the mind and heart. Belief alone can keep one in a continual backslidden state. Why? Because the mind and heart has not changed. You can believe in Jesus and still commit adultery, take drugs, smoke, hate your brother, harbor unforgiveness, engage in pornography or homosexuality, etc. TRANSFORMATION is based on a CONSCIOUS CHOICE, not emotion. If you were saved only because you were
