Preface

Affirming My Faith reflects the basic tenets of the Christian faith and is meant to enlighten, challenge, and act as a study guide to promote spiritual conversation among its readers.

As you read through the materials, please take all the time you need to allow the passages to sink into your spirit and mind so that you might gain a better understanding through meditation and reflection.

Also, please note that this book was conceived for the purposes of achieving two objectives:

First, my desire is to awaken the believer’s passion for the lost by spurring their desire to bear witness to the love of Christ.

Second, we seek to strengthen that desire by challenging those who say they have a relationship with Christ by allowing them to use the Word to try their spirit.

It is my sincere hope that this small measure of faith would ignite for some and rekindle for others the fire necessary to move forward in the love of Christ and mature into vessels of ministry. So feel free to use your Bible and other study aids to explore the contents thereof.

For those who haven’t quite figured it out yet, the book you are about to explore is about and for the following:

It is designed to help all readers connect to the basic tenets of the Christian faith.

The book will use these basic beliefs as a platform to build courage and instill a fervent desire of all believers to share their faith with others when applicable.

And lastly, with all hope, it will issue an internal challenge to each readers’ belief system in order to spur one much-needed question: Am I really what I say am?

The Definition of Affirm

To affirm means to declare something as positive, or maintain it to be true.

The Foundation Affirmation of Believers

As Christians (followers of the teachings of Christ), we believe that Jesus is the Christ (savior). We believe he is the son of God. We believe in his death, burial, and resurrection. We believe in repentance and being baptized in the name of Jesus and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus gave his life so that we might live, that he passed the truths of the mysteries of God to us through his holy apostles, and that these truths are contained in the written Word of God, and there is no other way by which we should live. This is the basic affirmation of our faith and the substance of our hope. Together, committed to God, with our faith steadfast in the Lord Jesus Christ, we will stand healthy, joyous, and prosperous all the days of our lives, so help us, God. Amen.
