The Mindset of Christ - Geovanni Israel Guerra
Chapter One
Restoring The Mind And Mindset Of Christ As Your Own!
The scriptural support in this chapter will be referenced from:
I Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
Philippians 2:5-7 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: ⁷ But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Philippians 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. (Completely dead to the things of the world and living by Christ and He alone!)
Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
In order to embrace the Mind and Mindset of Christ we will get the definitions of these words to gain a clear understanding. As it relates to the word mind, the world defines it as that which is responsible for one’s thoughts and feelings, however, Holy Spirit revealed to me that the word mind—speaks of the soul mind, which is not to be responsible for your thoughts and feelings, but rather WHERE YOU CHOOSE which thoughts and feelings you are going to agree with and submit to. This is so whether the thought is of Truth, which is of God, and His Word or that of the world, which is of the Devil.
To Mind means to attend to or regard with submission to obey, the power that conceives, judges or reasons! It has to do with your thoughts and what they are inclined to. To fix thoughts on, to regard with attention, your deep thoughts, intentions, desires and understanding, purpose and design.
Mindset means the ideas and attitudes in which a person approaches a situation. It is the habits of mind formed by previous experiences or situations! In this, you must now renounce your old mindset and embrace the mindset of Christ. This is necessary because: (1) Before Christ Jesus you were right to fear the enemy; (2) Before Christ Jesus you were right to know it was beyond your ability; (3) Before Christ when a problem arose you were right to worry and doubt. These things were so because you were ignorant of what Christ Jesus had already done for you, in that you were still under the kingdom of darkness. Now if you are a believer in Christ, you have no right to fear, doubt, or say something is impossible. You have no right to contradict the word of God neither what He has done for you. The reason we do not have the right to do any of these things is because God has declared unto you and I, who believe, that He will never leave nor fail us. He will never allow anything to harm us and we must do what He says which is ONLY BELIEVE! You can read John 6:28-29 and Joshua 1:5 regarding this.
Now although this is work, it is work without toil if we know how to solely trust God (see Proverbs 3:5-6). I often ask myself why would anyone want to be defeated, if they can walk in victory? The obvious answer to that is if everyone knew they did not have to put their head down in shame because they failed, but rather through Christ can now hear from God and as they obey Him the result will be no defeats. This would cause people to run to God and not from Him. Those believers who are struggling and being defeated have yet put in the time to renounce their old mindset and behaviors once and for all and simply embrace those of Christ Jesus in whom they now abide.
I need you to confidently know God’s Word is true in order to have an understanding of what God has already given you. We just read in I Corinthians 2:16, that we know the mind of the Lord because He gave it to us. He has made us one with it as the word abides in us. The apostle Paul said in Romans 1:15, "As much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel." How did it get in him? God put it there as he meditated on the scriptures. It became alive and one with him.
So who knows the mind of the Lord? We do praise God! Who can instruct Him? We can, if we truly abide in the Spirit and not the flesh. How is this possible? It is possible because it is God in us—for we no longer live but it is Christ that lives in us. We are the ones in whom He has revealed His Word by His Spirit. HalleluYah—now do you believe or not?
As we are one with the mind of Christ we are to function in the same way He did. He was able to know the hearts of men and what they were thinking. How? By the Spirit: The same way He knew the Samaritan woman at the well did not have a husband is the same way we are to know what is keeping people from God. It is by the anointing that we can discern and know what is going on in the lives of others, so that we may be used to usher them into the presence of God, as we are enlightened of God to bless their lives with a word in season by the Spirit in Jesus name. This is solely for the purpose of their reconciliation unto God. See 1 John 2:20.
As believers in Christ Jesus we now have access and are one with the omniscient mind of Christ as we
