Vogon Poetry Flower I - Ian Eress
1. Painting of Girls
In hues of gold and orange, a painting of girls I see,
Amidst the beauty of autumn, they stand so gracefully.
Their faces glow with warmth, as they share a gentle smile,
And in their eyes, a hint of love, that lingers for a while.
Their hair, a tangle of colors, blown by the season's breeze,
Their dresses swirl around them, like the leaves from the trees.
The canvas comes alive as if they're about to dance,
In the midst of autumn's magic, they take a chance.
As I gaze upon the painting, my heart begins to sing,
For in these girls' expressions, I see the joy of spring.
Their love for one another, a bond that's pure and true,
And in this moment captured, I feel their love anew.
Oh, how beautiful they are, these girls of paint and brush,
A moment in time preserved, that makes my heart rush.
For in their faces, I see hope, a promise of what could be,
And in this painting of girls, I find a love that's free.
2. In a hurry
Rushing through my day, I'm in a hurry,
With dreams to chase and places to be.
My search for success, cannot wait,
I must keep moving, cannot be late.
But as I run, I hear a song,
A melody that's been there all along.
It's singing to me, a gentle tune,
Reminding me to slow down soon.
I stop and listen, the world fades away,
And for a moment, I'm lost in the sway.
The singing tells me to take a breath,
To enjoy the moment, to forget the stress.
The dreams I chase, the search I seek,
They can wait a moment, it's not that bleak.
For in this moment, I find my peace,
The singing reminds me to release.
To let go of the hurry and the rush,
To take a moment, to let it hush.
For in the stillness, I find my way,
To navigate the chaos, and seize the day.
So as I move on, I keep in mind,
The singing that I left behind.
For in its words, I found my calm,
A reminder to keep going, with open palms.
3. Clocks
Clocks ticking away, marking time,
Telling us when to wake and dine.
Phones in our hands, always within reach,
But clocks, oh clocks, the lessons they teach.
They tell us that time moves on and on,
Even when we'd rather stay and bond.
The police of time, keep us in line,
With every tick and tock, they remind us.
And yet, as we watch the hands go around,
We dream of nights with stars abound.
Of moments when time stands still,
When our hearts are with love and wonder filled.
But still, the clocks keep ticking,
Reminding us of all that's gone.
The past, the present, the future too,
All in the hands of the clocks, so true.
And so we move on, with phones in hand,
But the clocks help us understand.
That time is fleeting, it's precious and dear,
And every moment, we must hold so near.
When the stars come out at night,
And the world is bathed in moonlight,
We'll look back on the hours and days,
And see the beauty in every phase.
4. Rules
Rules, oh rules, they shape our days,
They keep us in line, in so many ways.
But sometimes, they can make us feel crazy,
Like we're stuck in a pattern, dull and lazy.
Yet rules can teach us, help us learn,
To navigate the world and our concerns.
They can guide us, keep us on track,
And help us find our way back.
For every crazy rule, we face,
There's a reason, a purpose, a place.
A pattern we may not yet see,
But it's there, in the rules, waiting for you and me.
So let's learn from the rules, embrace their might,
For they're there to help us, day and night.
They teach us to be responsible and kind,
To be thoughtful and considerate, all the time.
And when we find ourselves feeling stuck,
In a pattern, that seems like muck,
Remember the rules, they're there to guide,
To help us find a way, and never hide.
For rules, oh rules, they shape our days,
They keep us in line, in so many ways.
But they also teach us, help us learn,
To navigate the world, and all that we yearn for.
Rules, rules, everywhere rules
A crazy pattern we must learn
Order imposed, freedom deferred
Yet within boundaries, we can turn
Mundane to art, find beauty in the form
If we see rules, not as the rigid norm
But guiding lines, we need not yearn
For lack of structure to overturn.
5. Nation
O president of this fair country
Why must you treat us all like trash?
Lining your pockets so chunky
While the nation's coffers you splash.
Our nation, oh our nation,
With a president in a situation,
A country in need of some repair,
And trash piling up everywhere.
The leader's tweets are like a storm,
Causing chaos, in every form,
While the people, shake their heads,
Wondering what else will be said.
The country's roads are full of potholes,
And the schools are in dire straits, so droll,
While the trash cans overflow,
And the garbage trucks move too slowly.
But fear not, oh citizens dear,
For our nation
