Why so Deaf? A Collection of Poems and Rhymes
()
About this ebook
This is a collection of poems stimulated by human folly not only in our everyday lives but on a more global scale. I have made them as direct and accessible as possible.
David E Lawrence
Born in Rugby I live in Oxford where I worked in book publishing taking early retirement as Production Director. I now write for pleasure and for local outlets and sites such as this one. My favourite authors are CS Lewis, Haruki Murakami and Frederick Forsyth. I also compile cryptic crosswords and listen to a whole lot of music especially rock and jazz.

Why so Deaf? A Collection of Poems and Rhymes - David E Lawrence
Do you remember the Asian prince beneath the Bodhi tree?
He opened his mind, and no longer blind,
He set himself free.
Walls and fire, kindle the pyre,
Cometh the hour, come flags and power,
The quick and the dead, an ocean of red,
The hate and the fear, can we not hear?
I recall there was a Greek in the Agora, and a Chinese seer,
They embraced the word, to leave the herd,
There is nothing to fear.
Might for right, dark for light,
Threats and treason, logic without reason,
Embargoes and stances, swords and lances,
