Vogon Poetry Flower VI - Ian Eress

    1. The Last Supper in the Universe

    In Havana's dusk, Ramon alone

Sat sealed in thought's dark cyclone.

With relish and rage savored he

    Beets, cabbage, garlic—an earthen bounty,

While Time's last sands through the hourglass groan.

    The beets were sweet,

    the cabbage was sour

His belly filled in the final hour

    the dandelion's bitter taste

Made his memories go to waste

    The garlic was pungent,

    a potent reminder

Of a love, he left behind

    Heart than he possessed

    in the universe's last behest

He sat alone, a cosmic survivor

    As the end neared,

    Ramon watched stars wane.

    He savored his last meal,

As the universe's death knell rang.

    Ramon bid a bittersweet farewell.

    2. The Last Supper

Youthful and fair, our love did bloom,

    we decided to find out.

After long investigations and torturous days,

We found out he had been murdered.

We found evidence that pointed to us,

that was the beginning of the end.

No salvation—the world's end came swiftly.

    Yet we fought, souls adrift,

To the last, though lost were we.

    3. The Last Hour

    Silently, burning hot flames there,

I stand, staring, yearning, yet feeble,

    I burn, cannot escape,

My fate is to stand here, motionless.

    After a long, pointless eternity,

    My thoughts turn to mystery,

The secret to an innocent murder lies here,

That must soon be uncovered in history.

it's too late, time has run out,

No one will ever know the truth,

    I remain here, burning and
