What if Life's A Dance? - Laura Hall
The Dance
A friend of mine asked me what my favorite dance was. Do I remember it? Well, this really kick-started my mind. What if our life is about the dance? What do I mean by that? I looked back and recalled that I was not really interested in going to the dances at school. Fear and doubt would set in. I would tell myself, I can’t dance, then I would imagine being one of the girls standing with all the other ones that no one wanted to dance with. Then what if someone did ask me? Was that the partner I really wanted to hold me close? Or would it be the wild dance with all those crazy moves that I just knew I would make a fool of myself?
Each one of these dances would create memories that would last a lifetime. My thoughts continued, What if our life dance is really about how each of us choose to live and what partners or path we take. I thought, what would my life look like if my dance partner would have been Jesus? If He had danced with me, my very first dance, how would my life differ from choosing the partner of the flesh? You know what I mean, the good-looking partner, the money partner, the fame partner, the make-me-feel-good partner, and the list goes on. These ideas really got me thinking.
What If?
What if you had a choice in your dance or destiny? What if your choices could change the direction and dance of your future generations? What if being born a woman had more meaning than just being a wife, mother, and dance partner to another person? What if, although we are all unique, maybe we are really very similar? What if the story of your life could stop someone in their song choice and change their dance in life? What if we had power like that? After all, women have come a long way, and women have sacrificed themselves for the rights we have today. We have the right to be seen. We have the right to be heard. We have the right to be equal with men. What if these rights were really meaningless in the big picture of a woman’s life? What if women were really meant to be the dance leaders for future generations? What if as a woman, you had the power to change another woman’s dance partner in life? If you are interested in making a difference, I challenge you to read further.
This book contains the dances of two women and how the lives of future generations were affected by the partners they chose. As I think about their dance and the details to come, I find it amazing how much people’s lives are really alike and how it seems we are not aware of it. We seem to think that each one of us are different and unique. Yes, that is a true statement, but what if we really took time to listen to others stories, life dances as I like to call it. We may just be surprised at how much we are alike. What if you heard a person’s story and it helped change the course of your life and dance forever? Would it be worth any amount of time and or money to you? The thing is we seem to think we know what’s best for us, don’t we?
Maybe it’s because we have been given freewill over our lives and choose not
