About this ebook
Life's Journey by Roberta Dawn is a collection of one hundred poems she has written over the years. Some poems have been inspired by her personal experiences and some from trying to understand the world around her. There is at least one poem for everyone to relate to, if not several. Anyone who has family, friends, a significant other, a bad or good day, lived military life, and more will have something to relate to. In fact, anyone who has walked this journey through life should enjoy this book. Roberta Dawn hopes these poems can help people understand others better and understand their own thoughts and feelings. These poems can also help others know they are not alone, that others may have faced similar challenges and may be experiencing similar emotions. Life's Journey is a variety of poems written about love, heartache, sadness, happiness, grief, and life from the author's perspective. Each poem is written from the author's heart as they came to her like a gift in the wind when she needed the words to express her thoughts, feelings, love, and sometimes pain. Every word is written with many possible impressions, feelings, thoughts, experiences. These poems are meant to be read and reread, to be read alone and shared, and to be appreciated and enjoyed.

Life's Journey - Roberta Dawn
I See You
Not just your pretty face
But deep down
In your heart and soul
I even hear
Your thoughts sometimes
I look into your eyes
And I see you
The pain tightly held at bay
The longing to feel safe
And loved enough
To put down those heavy walls
I see you
And the weight on your shoulders
The strength in you
To carry the cards you’ve been dealt
I see you so full of love
Yet terrified to open your heart
Afraid one more heartbreak
Will make your soul shatter
I see you
Opening it anyway
Sliver by sliver
Hoping someone will grab your hand
And hold tight no matter what
I see you
Do you see me?
The Man, The Soldier
A soldier lies on the ground
Target in his sight
His faithful gun loaded and ready
Amidst all the chaos
His world goes silent and focused
The soldier says a prayer
For straight and true flight
The man has become
The soldier on a mission
The man must retreat to a corner of his soul
And wait for mission complete
The man is God’s son
And not a killer
The soldier is a well-trained machine
The man is made with God’s love
The soldier is trained to do his job without mercy
The man needs love
The soldier cannot feel
The man must be strong enough
To turn off the soldier
The soldier must complete his mission
Or else
Sometimes the machine keeps running
When the man is weary
And tired of watching the soldier kill
The man can give up
On turning off the machine
Before this happens
The man needs to be embraced
And thrown a rope of understanding
I’ve Always Wanted
I’ve always wanted
The type of in-sync love
That could go to war
And never need to speak
I’ve always wanted
The secure feeling that
I know my other half
Knows my thoughts
In strategy
I think of times
When partners in love
Are partners in life
I’ve always wanted
To have that type of love
That moves mountains
And lasts through the end of time
The unshakeable love
That scares all darkness away
The unselfish, all-caring love
I’ve always searched for this
And just as I was about to give up
I found you
My true love
One Of My Greatest Creations
My dear child
I love you more than you know
I know our lives have been rocky at times
I know in some areas you’ve had it rough
And in others you’ve had it smooth
I know you’ve grown up fast
Even though I’ve tried my best
To protect you from
The ugliness of our world
You are so very gorgeous
And don’t see it
Which scares me because
I never want you taken advantage of
Just because
You love with your whole soul
I know a soul as deep as yours
Is both a blessing and a curse
You are so close to the day
When I must release you
Into the world
To make your mark
I know you will be awesome
But I will always worry
Because I love you
With my whole being
You will always be a part of me
And one of my greatest creations
My Chocolate Addiction
My chocolate addiction
Is so strong that
When offered
Will always choose it
I never knew how strong
Until I met my chocolate man
So sexy and handsome
I was drawn to him like to a drug
But he makes me happier
Than any drug ever could
Now I would choose my man
Every single time
No other man or chocolate
Can compare to him
Now chocolate can’t hold
A candle to my man
My man is the true chocolate
I have been searching for
All these years
He satisfies all of my cravings
He feeds me love, respect
And nourishing support
My chocolate man
Fills me up
And makes me see
What I’ve been needing
Beauty Of Your Soul
You try to blend
Into the shadows
But I still see you
