About this ebook

What inspired me to begin writing poems?

I grew up in a place called the hill district in Pittsburgh, PA. It wasnt normal and manly to express his true feelings, out of fear of being put down or run over. So I would write mine down on paper and start saving them from 1989 up until this date in time.

My girlfriend encouraged me to write this book the moment she started reading pieces I had tucked in my dresser drawers. This book of poems is some of my true feelings being expressed.

Author

Julian V. Crosby Sr.

Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, at the age of three, moved to the Hill District of Pittsburgh, PA. It was hard for a man to express his true feelings without being looked down on or totally run over. I had a life of crime and struggled for years with my drug addiction, until I started writing my feelings on paper and dealing with my addiction head-on with the help of others and my higher power, which I choose to call God. Writing, for me, is a great deal of therapy.

The Unspoken Words - Julian V. Crosby Sr.

    Reality Hits

Everyone has a story that needs to be told

Sit back and listen as mine unfolds

In my active addiction, I wasn’t gaining; I was losing when I put myself in these places—I’m kicking my history in the ass

Forgetting what my grandparents went through and the pain in my past

Riding around in a forty-thousand-dollar car, thinking you’re in heaven

But look around, your mom in the projects—in building number eleven

Yes, we have all the jewels and gold

But for these things we have sold our souls

Oprah, like other great African Americans, was classified a nigga

Seeing how they made it through adversity was enough to ignite my writing trigger

    A Lovers’ Dance

    We dance a lovers’ dance

    As we romance the ocean

    Rhythmic strokes recite

    Poetry and motion

    Our hearts begin to flirt

    As we move so divine

    Our lips grace to surface

    Let our love intertwine

    You’re so wonderful, so perfect

    You stutter as you speak

Clutch the depth of my flesh

    When you begin to peak

    You moan a melody

For the pleasure that I bring

    As you descend in ecstasy

    Your eyes begin to sing

    As they serenade me

    With poetry and devotion

    They invite me again

To dance with you in the ocean

    Always as One

The way you came into my life was a complete surprise,

But what you turned out to be was my angel in disguise

Before you came along, my life was cramped and boggled,

Mentally, I was trapped like living in a bottle

I understand that not everything in life is going to be peaches and cream,

However, if we keep our hearts as one, we can conquer our dreams

I know you’re the one I am destined to keep,

Because you came along and made my life complete

Sometimes relationships get deranged and somewhat hectic,

However, I am sure we will get through it because we are spiritually connected

The words I am expressing are so pure and so true,

Come from my mind and through my heart and only meant for you

Therefore, we cannot let anything come between us and tear us apart,

Because total separation will leave two lonely hearts

    Refreshed Hearts

Sunshine, you came in my life

    And touched me deep within,

You made me eat the words

That I would never love again.

    Before you came along,

I would not let anyone near,

You showed me it was all right

To share with you my fears

I am so grateful to have you

    As my significant other

    Because a lot of things

    You converse with me

    Remind me of my mother

    I am not saying this

    Meaning in a negative way,

    I am mentioning it because

It helps me make it through my days.

I hope you keep on delivering to me

    The
