About this ebook
Dawn R. King
I am Dawn R. King. I am 35 years old. I have two beautiful teenagers of my own and have another living with me as well. I help take care of my father. Every time life gets hold of me, I start writing poetry. It only seemed right that my first book should be a collaboration of the inspirations that have kept me motivated through my darkest hours. I hope you enjoy every one of them and they inspire you as they have inspired me.

Dreams
This book is dedicated in loving memory
To Mrs. Kay Harr
The one who had faith in me
And pushed me toward my dreams
Even when I was so young-
I finally paid attention
And I miss you
This book is also dedicated to the forces
That helped mold me into who I am today
Tim King—my exhusband, for showing me
That no matter what, you can’t take away
Someone’s dreams, only make them stronger
Mike Embree-for showing me who I
Needed to stand up and be and that
Which doesn’t kill me can only
Make me stronger
Edward Dickerson—for showing me how to stand
On my own two feet and opening me
Up to a world that was calling my
Name and I could never quite understand
Ceara Doneff—for always believing in me and keeping
Me on the right path even when I
Thought I wanted to give up
And last but not least
To my parents, Carol and Jerry Koyne
For being there for me when I needed help
And supporting me in the decisions I made
In my life—unconditional love
Crossroad
Standing at the crossroad
Of making my dreams come true
Glance back at the road I took
That got me where I am
Have to pause
And realize that I can
Take the path to lead me
Exactly where I want to be
Find myself stumbling
Not knowing what to do
Been so long to get here
Can I really walk on through?
Pausing to look at what I’ve become
Take a deep breath
Because my journey has just begun
Contract in my hand
Of everything I think I want
Do I take that leap?
Or decide it’s just a front?
Read the fine print
A hundred times over
Feel like I’m caught in the middle
Of a game of Red Rover
Hardest decision I’ll ever have to make
Biggest risk I’ll ever take
It all comes down
To a giant leap of faith
Do I have the courage
To follow through
With all the things I want to do?
Ask the people I love the most
Pray to my father, son and holy
