    Acknowledgments

I want to say thank you to the Prophets. I have learned so much about the deception and evil tactics that the devil uses to attack the people of God. Thank you for your prophetic gifts, powerful preaching, for teaching the word of God, and for equipping me with the tools I needed to see clearly on the deceitful ways of the enemy. May God continue to bless you and your ministries.

    Introduction

Deception is a word that I know all too well; it has a triple D effect: devil, deceive, and delay. The devil wants to deceive you, trying to delay what God has for you. Now, how does the devil delay? It is by sending a decoy to distract you, tempting you with lies and deceit—which may appear to look innocent and truthful, but it’s not. A decoy can be a number of things—relationships, situations, a person, or even a career.

The word deception is defined as the action of deceiving someone or a thing that deceives (devil). The word decoy is an imitation of one used to attract others, enticed for capture, and lure a person away from an intended course. To sum it all up, the devil deceives us by trying to distract us away from the truth and by trying to destroy our relationship with God so he can try to delay what God has for us and what He has called us to do. At times, the enemy will use a decoy to come into your life as a distraction, and the sole purpose for that decoy is to keep you focused on it, and not on God. This is where spiritual discernment is needed.

Discernment is defined as the ability to judge well. As a Christian, spiritual discernment is very important; it helps you to know whether a person or a situation is good or evil. I’ll be the first to admit. There were times when my discernment of people or situations were not good. But after a much-needed prayer and after seeking God for guidance, He began to reveal the truth to me about people or a situation by shedding light to their dark intentions. For some people, it may be hard for them to see the deception because they don’t think that the devil is real, that he doesn’t exist, or they know that the devil exists, but they don’t acknowledge or pay attention to the evilness of Satan—which can be very dangerous. It can make you more vulnerable to deceit, where you begin to believe the lies of the enemy.

One example of why Satan wants you to think that he doesn’t exist is that, when harmful things happen to you or your loved ones, you tend to blame God for it. God did this to us, and you start turning your heart away from God. God does not bring harm to His people. God may allow some things to happen for several reasons, such as for you to confess and repent your sins and receive salvation through Jesus Christ. When your back is against the wall and there is no one to turn to but God, only He can get you through it and bring you out of it. To learn how to trust God and His word, to be able to see and hear the truth, and to receive the lessons, He needs you to learn to help you grow into a mature Christian—with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of the kingdom of God, knowing that Jesus is Lord!

In this book, you will see the tactics and the same persistent ways Satan uses deception to distract God’s people. With his lies, he is trying to take you off your intended course of doing what God has called you to do. Satan does not want you to receive the inherited blessing and prosperity, which God has ordained for His people. You will discover that the best way to defeat the enemy from deception is with belief, faith, and in trusting God and His Word (Bible), knowing that the devil is real, that he does exist, and his sole purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But praise God that the enemy is already defeated.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

    Chapter 1

    Deceive

When I think of the word deceive, there is only one word that comes to mind, and that is misrepresenting—a false or misleading representation of, usually with an intent to deceive or be unfair. This is one of the devil’s many tactics, which he uses in being deceitful. Most people misrepresent themselves when their intentions are not good. They will lie to get what they want or need from you and cause such turmoil in your life, to the point where it will try to destroy you. Now, doesn’t that sound familiar? It sounds like the devil to me.

For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44 NLT)
