Glorious Layered Desserts - Glory Albin

    APPLE CRISP

    Total Time: 30 minutes

    FROM START TO FINISH

    Makes 6–7 servings

This classic dessert is perfect for fall, but it’s so delicious you will want to make it all year round!

    Dessert Components

    Oatmeal Nut Crumble

    Cinnamon Apples

    ½ recipe Whipped Cream

    or vanilla ice cream

    Assembly

    1.   Prepare oatmeal nut crumble. Bake and cool.

    2.   While the crumble bakes, prepare cinnamon apples using recipe below.

    3.   Make whipped cream (or use canned whipped cream or vanilla ice cream).

    4.   When all your components are prepared, add a generous layer of oatmeal nut crumble (2–3 tablespoons) to the bottom of each dish. Top with a layer of cinnamon apples.

    5.   Garnish with whipped cream and a bit of oatmeal nut crumble just before serving. This dessert can be enjoyed warm or cool.

    CINNAMON APPLES

    Ingredients

    3 medium tart, firm apples

    (such as Granny Smith)

    3 Tbsp. brown sugar

    ¼ cup butter

    ½ tsp. cinnamon

    Directions

Peel apples and dice into small pieces (about ½-inch cubes). Add apples, brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon to a skillet and cook over medium-high heat. Cook until the apples begin to soften but still have some texture (4–5 minutes). Remove from heat and cool a bit before assembling dessert. The apples can be made ahead of time (up to 1 day) and layered in the dessert cold or reheated before serving.
