About this ebook

Do you love the promises in the Bible? What if you had them all, from Genesis through Revelation, collected in one volume, for your daily encouragement?

In Yes and Amen: God's Promises from Genesis Through Revelation, that is what you will find, along with short, powerful declarations which you can use to personalize each of these verses for yourself.

This edition of Yes and Amen uses a modernized King James Version, personally created by author Lee Ann Rubsam, for the text. It stays true to the KJV, except that it uses modern English in place of "thee," "thou," "hast," "didst," etc. If you enjoy the poetic flow and rich language of the King James, but struggle with the archaic English in it, this is the choice for you.

As you read, declare, and pray God's promises back to Him, may your mind be renewed, your understanding of your covenant inheritance in Christ be strengthened, and your confidence in God's goodness become more deeply anchored.

Yes and Amen - Lee Ann Rubsam

Quite honestly, I compiled this book for me, more than for others -- but you are still invited to join me in using it! I wanted a Bible promise book without a lot of added fluff, and not arranged by topics, so that I did not have an option to pick and choose. (But if you would like a topical promise book, you might enjoy one I have put together. It's called Encouragement from God's Word.) I wanted God to be able to touch on whatever subjects He would think important to my walk with Him, as I simply read through His promises in the order in which they appear in His Word.

This book uses a modernized version of the King James Bible, which means I have updated punctuation, spellings, and words such as thee, thou, hadst, and hath for easier reading. I have also capitalized pronouns which refer to God. It stays true to the KJV in other respects.

I like to start my morning prayer time with reading God's promises, but I don't really care for Bible promise books which use multiple translations, nor do I like the many paragraphs of commentary in some of them. So I went through an old Bible, underlining in red all the promises I found. Then, I began my prayer time each day by reading a few of them. But it would have been so much more convenient to have all those promises in a stand-alone format, without having to scan through pages to find them. Hence, this book.

I find that starting prayer with a number of Bible promises sets in place an atmosphere for listening to the Lord during the rest of my prayer time. Nothing can compare to His Word for drawing close to Him. It supernaturally implants power and anointing in our spirit to live the overcoming life. And, it helps to bring both our spirit and our mind into agreement with Him.

Some of God's promises are a bit hidden within His interactions with particular Bible characters, especially in the Old Testament. At first glance, they don't look like direct promises to us, because they were originally given to other people in their specific circumstances. However, in 1 Corinthians 10:11, the apostle Paul said, "Now all these things happened to them for ensamples [examples], and they are written for our admonition...." Admonition is not only warning or reproof; it also encompasses advice and counsel. So, we can take these specific promises which God gave to the saints of old and apply the principles they contain to our own circumstances, because God counsels us to learn from these examples of His goodness to people in the past.

Furthermore, God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34), meaning He does not play favorites. Anyone who seeks the Lord Jesus will find Him and can partake of the blessings found in His Word. He is the same in how He deals with His people yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). What He has done for others, He will do for you.

Please also realize that many of the promises in the Old Testament specifically apply to Israel. The Church has not replaced them. They are still God's chosen people, and much of God's plan for earth still is focused on them. Therefore, we should not lift those promises out of context. Some can be applied to Gentile believers, but not all of them.

Because the applications of hidden promises are not always obvious at a glance, I have inserted a short personalized declaration after most verses, which you can use to more easily make a verse your own. I recommend speaking the verses and their declarations aloud, as there is power in the spoken word. ...Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

Some Old Testament promises were conditional upon God's people obeying the Law handed down from Moses, so in forming declarations to go with those promises, I tried to view them through the eyes of the New Covenant which we now have in Christ. Jesus fulfilled the Law for us, but we walk out our obedience by yielding to the Holy Spirit Who lives and works within us.

In forming the declarations, when a verse was not easy to grasp, I often studied the original words in Hebrew and Greek, as well as other translations, to get a fuller understanding of what was hidden there. As God then showed me how to apply declarations to the Bible texts, it seemed like a little bit of heaven came down around me. I was so blessed! I hope you like the declaration feature, but if you want just the Scriptures, the declarations are short and easy to skip over. Perhaps you would rather come up with a declaration in your own words, based on what God is revealing to you in that verse. If so, great!

At times, you may be tempted with unbelief, thinking, But that promise must not mean what it seems to say, because I see something quite less than that happening in my experience and the experience of others. Unbelief causes us to over-spiritualize the Word of God, rather than believing it at face value. We must guard against that! Also, if we are going to obtain the promises, we cannot read them passively and still expect something to happen. We have to actively appropriate them -- to agree with them in our hearts, speak them aloud until we wholeheartedly believe them, and declare them as our reality. You can, and should, use the promises as a launching pad for petitioning the Lord for your needs and the needs of others. Praying the promises is a powerful tool for obtaining them.

Lastly, although the promises are encouraging and fun to read, please do read the entire Bible too. If you read only the promises, neglecting the rest of Scripture, you will miss out on a great deal. This book is meant to supplement your regular Bible reading, not to replace it.

May the Lord bless you with greater understanding of His love for you as you use this book. May He renew your mind by the washing of the water of His Word (Ephesians 5:26), and may He strengthen you to become the overcomer you are meant to be.

    ~ Lee Ann

    -- Leviticus 25:18, 19

Personal declaration: I abide and walk in the Spirit, obeying the Lord. He prospers me, so that I have more than enough. I live in complete safety, protected by Him.

If you walk in My statutes, and keep My commandments and do them, then I will give you rain in due season. The land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. Your threshing shall reach to the vintage, and the vintage shall reach to the sowing time. You shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land safely.

    -- Leviticus 26:3-5

Personal declaration: I yield myself in obedience to my God. He gives me increase, prospering my endeavors continually. I will reap and enjoy the fruit of my labor. I will dwell safely under the Lord's protection.

    -- Leviticus 26:6

Personal declaration: The Lord surrounds me with great peace. I lie down at night knowing I am safe in His care, and there is no need for me to worry. No one has the power to make me afraid, for the Lord has promised to remove all predators from my life. The enemy's sword will not be permitted to harm me.

You shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

    -- Leviticus 26:7, 8

Personal declaration: The enemy will not chase me: I chase and defeat him! There are more with me than with the enemy, for the Lord has charged His angels to fight on my behalf. As I use the sword of the Spirit, the mighty Word of God, the enemy is defeated.

I am the LORD your God, Who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their bondmen. I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you go upright.

    -- Leviticus 26:13

Personal declaration: The Lord has brought me out of bondage. I am not a slave to men, nor am I a slave to sin. He has broken the chains of the devil off of me. Now I can walk tall, because I am free!

... When they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away; neither will I abhor them to destroy them utterly and to break My covenant with them, for I am the LORD their God. But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God. I am the LORD.

    -- Leviticus 26:44, 45

Personal declaration: Just as the Lord was faithful to Israel even when they were unfaithful, so He is faithful to His covenant with me. When I fail Him, He doesn't cast me away. He will not reject or destroy me. I can always come to Him for forgiveness because of Jesus' atonement for me. He will embrace and restore me.

Personal declaration: The Lord is all-powerful. Nothing is too hard for Him. I will see with my own eyes that His word to me is true. It will surely happen, just as He said.

He said, Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD will make Myself known to him in a vision and will speak to him in a dream.

    -- Numbers 12:6

Personal declaration: The Lord makes Himself known to prophets in visions and dreams. Since the Holy Spirit has now been poured out upon the Church, He also reveals Himself to me in visions and dreams.

If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us: a land which flows with milk and honey.

    -- Numbers 14:9

Personal declaration: I will not rebel against the Lord. I submit myself wholeheartedly to Him. I will not fear anything, for whatever comes against me, God will turn into bread for me. The enemy's defenses cannot stand against me, for the Lord of hosts is with me. Therefore, I do not fear the opposition.

... I am your part and your inheritance among the children of Israel.

    -- Numbers 18:20

Personal declaration: As Aaron and his sons were set apart to the Lord, so am I. Under the New Covenant, all believers are a royal priesthood. The Lord is my portion. He is my inheritance. (See I Peter 2:9 and Revelation 1:6.)

God is not a man, that He should lie; neither is He the son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?

    -- Numbers 23:19

Personal declaration: The Lord cannot go against His very nature, which is truth. He will never lie to me, never deceive me. He does not change His mind and go back on His word. If He has said it, He will do it. He makes good on everything He has spoken.
