CHAPTER 1

I sighed, inwardly hoping that no one walked by my office door. I didn't want to have to explain why instead of typing on my keyboard; I was slumped over with my head in my hands. It had been a long, restless night that was now followed by a long, sleepy day.

My phone buzzed. Peeking at it through my fingers, I saw my fiancé's number, followed by a text. A quick glance told me she was still in a mood. I swiped it away, not even bothering to read it. It wouldn't contain anything but more doom and gloom, something I had in barrels full already. I just wanted one thing to go right.

Kenny. I turned my head to find my best friend crouched beside my desk. He was glancing anxiously over his shoulder. I need your help on the 'New You' project.

I rolled my eyes, burying my head back into my hands. No. I mumbled.

I heard his clothes rustle as he jumped up to his feet and raised my head just in time to see our boss walk by. Drew gave him a cheerful smile and wave. Hi Mr. Newman. Looking forward to that big proposal tomorrow. Our boss continued on without so much as a backwards glance.

I snorted as Drew's smile faded, and he turned back to me with anxious eyes. Come on, man. You gotta help me out. I have to get a result tonight or I'm screwed.

Sounds like a romantic evening with the rats then. I yawned, pulling my keyboard towards me as I pretended to get back to work.

That's just it. There is something wrong with the sequence. The changes I was seeing weeks ago are starting to break down. I need someone with an eye for detail to help look through the code with me. He crouched again. Please, man. You know I need this.

I turned, an enormous sigh expanding my chest as I exhaled heavily. I am having issues with Jenna.
