Reese squinted into the sun as the island came into view. The coastline looked deserted but the captain had warned her that the tribe of wild women that lived on the island was known to hide and attack any sailors that came too close. No one knew who they were or where they originated from, only that they had claimed the small island as their own and would not shy away from violence to keep it that way.

As they pulled closer the captain, who spoke very little English, motioned for her to climb aboard the life raft. Out of fear for his vessel he had made it clear that he would take her no further than the outer sand bars.

Gathering her small pack of belongings Reese hopped onto the raft, only looking back once before setting off towards the beach. By the time she had reached the sand, the captain and his boat were long gone. She was stranded and alone.
