In order to perfect his investigative and security talents for both private clients and large corporations, he underwent a variety of training and certification programs. As a corporate security officer, Melvyn has been the target of three ambushes, several assassination attempts, death threats, and an actual bomb threat. Rescue efforts for team members and a multinational corporation's head were also handled by him. A private investigator/detective/security consultant, he conducted security risk assessments for an international NGO, thus preventing the loss of lives of both international NGO officers and their local counterparts; he reunited two missing daughters with their father, a U.S. Navy Officer; he saved a young American executive from a criminal syndicate; and he located hundreds of skips attempting to evade their financial obligations, debts, etc., which resulted in the recovery of cash. Security consultation and training services were also supplied by him to various Japanese multinational companies. Certifications and Accreditations include: Certified Security Professional; Accredited Investigator; Licensed Private Detective; Licensed Security Officer; and Certified Security Training Director. Toyota Autoparts Philippines Inc. employed Melvyn as a Loss Control Officer and Training Specialist (TAP). The TAP Training Section was established and organized by him, and he produced and performed training for both rank-and-file team members as well as middle and upper management officers. As a consequence of his effective training techniques, employees were more productive, more efficient, and less likely to be injured on the job. They also achieved their personal (team member and officer) as well as company goals, and had better relationships within the team. He was a certified Franklin Covey Coach, which allowed him to facilitate the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People for Toyota. TAP's Team Relations Section, General Administration Section, Facilities Management, Safety, and Security were all overseen by him simultaneously.
