About this ebook

The subject of the anointing in Pentecostal and charismatic churches is a very common theme. The word anointing is a word which I myself use freely and liberally many times in my own ministry. As someone who moves in the prophetic ministry, I frequently have instructions from the Holy Spirit concerning the anointing.

At some point I realized but it was necessary for me to define what I mean when I refer to the anointing. It is a bit of a technical term and someone who does not have any background maybe if it's lost when the here us Minister speaking about the anointing.

The second thing is different people use the term anointing in different way so I believe it is necessary for us to establish what the Bible specifically means when it speaks about the anointing and then we take our definition from what the scriptures give us. In this way we can have a universal bible-based meaning or point of reference when we hear the term anointing being used.

This booklet speaks directly and simply about the major points in defining what the anointing is and what the relevance is for the Christian today.

At the end of the booklet, they are two examples given of people who flowed in the anointing of God. One of them is King David and the other one is King Saul. From the life of David, we will draw a few positive attributes about how to flow in the anointing. From the life of Saul, we will learn about hindrances and failure to flow in the anointing properly.

This booklet is a bit more technical and I have deliberately left out my own personal experiences and perception of the anointing in favour of a more bible-based approach. My own experiences are covered in sufficient detail in other books and this one is more to give a good reference to the term anointing and how we should understand it from the scriptures.

The term "anointing" is one of the most common terms used in the whole Bible and many men and women of God in the scriptures are said to have been anointed. After reading this book anyone should be able to see and understand how the anointing was working in the lives of these

different saints.

Reading this book will also give you an understanding of how the anointing can or does work in your life already. You'll be able to see how to improve and grow in the anointing and you will learn how to study the subject of the anointing with understanding.

    INTRODUCTION

The subject of the anointing of the Holy Spirit is one which occurs frequently throughout the texts that are found in the scriptures. As such, Ministers of the Gospel use this term quite freely as well. You can almost intuitively tell what the word anointing means but, in this booklet, we wish to make clear what this term means according to the teachings found in the scriptures.

The structure of the book will begin with an analysis of what the anointing is beginning with the perspective of the New Testament and then we will look at two important old testament examples namely, King David and King Saul.

This booklet does not seek to be an exhaustive investigation of the subject of the anointing but it offers a good general overview that equips the believer with enough information to make an educated study of the anointing as is found throughout the scriptures.

The general guiding principles which are found in this book will be sufficient to give enough knowledge to make a more in-depth study of the subject of the anointing much more easily. May God the Father give us more grace in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
