The Lord ordained prophets throughout Israel’s rebellious history to serve as His messengers. These mighty men of God were used as His mouthpiece to give words of warning, encouragement, rebuke, and direction. When Judah was exiled to Babylon, due to their disobedience, the Lord did not leave them without hope. They witnessed the mighty works of His hands through prophets like Daniel, who was uncompromised in his faithfulness to the Lord. Daniel is an example of how believers should remain loyal in serving the Lord despite the circumstances, tests, and trials that come their way. The book of Daniel testifies to the greatness of God over kingdoms, people, and nations, for only His kingdom will last forever.
In this first lesson of Daniel: Dreams, Visions, and the End Times, we will learn about the boldness of Daniel and his three friends. They had been taken to a foreign land, and all they had ever known had been left behind. Nevertheless, they continued to serve the One True God, and He blessed their faithfulness. Let’s take a look at the lives of Daniel and his three friends so that we may gain encouragement from their story to remain faithful until the end.

Introduction to Daniel

Daniel (דניאל) in Hebrew means God is my judge.

The Lord had chosen Daniel as a source of strength, encouragement, and a godly example to the Jewish exiles living in Babylon. The book is so named, to whose authorship most biblical scholars have accredited, is mentioned in chapters 9:2 and 10:2, for which they believe attests to their theory. Jesus also quoted the words of Daniel in His reference to ‘the abomination that causes desolation" in Matthew 24:15, thus making it possible that Daniel was the author, or
