Where's the Anointing?
()
About this ebook
In this book, the question where is the anointing is asked. It seems that today most churches are more interested in programs, fancy audio-visual productions, and the leader’s personality than they are in seeking God for His presence and His anointing.
It reminds us of what the anointing does and how to tell when it is present. It is only the anointing that destroys yokes and sets the captives free. When the anointing is present people will be saved, healed, delivered, set free; and lives will be eternally changed.
We need God and we need His anointing. If Jesus did all He did in His earthly ministry (Acts 10:38) by God’s anointing, if He needed the anointing, how much more certainly do we need the anointing!?

Chapter One
Foundational Truths
There have been many books have been written on the subject of the anointing. Yet there are those who still don’t believe in or understand it.
I am writing this book to show you that the anointing is largely absent in the Church today and this leaves the Church to be just another powerless religion.
2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof . . .
I am going to explain what the anointing is, what it does, and why it is so vitally important.
I hope to kindle within you, an all-consuming, burning desire to see the anointing of God return to the Church. But it is tragically missing and conspicuously absent from most churches today. You must understand that God doesn’t offer multiple choices. He has one plan, and one purpose, and He moves one way . . . and that is by His anointing.
My Purpose
I am not writing this book to be critical of individual believers or of the Church. I love my brothers and sisters in the Lord and I love God’s Church.
I am writing this book as a wake-up call. I am writing this book to point out the problem, and to call it to your attention. Losing the anointing is a critical problem and it must be recognized and corrected. Only then can the Church once again become the place of God’s presence, power, and dwelling in the earth; as He has always intended it to be.
There are three anointings; the anointing within, the anointing upon, and the corporate anointing. I do not feel that God wants this to be a book that merely teaches about the anointing. Therefore, I am not going to try to cover all of the various aspects of the anointing.
Therefore, in this book I will not be dealing with:
The Anointing Within (The New Birth)
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
The anointing within is a way of describing what happens when a person is born again. The Holy Spirit comes to live, dwell, and abide in their human spirit. However, in this book, I will not be dealing with the anointing within. 1 John 2:20 But ye have an unction (anointing) from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
The Corporate Anointing (United Prayer)
The corporate anointing is the combined anointing when believers come together and the anointing within and upon each one id joined with all the others. I will also not be dealing with the corporate anointing.
Deuteronomy 32:30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight . . .
Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
Acts 4:23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. 24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: 25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? 26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. 27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. 29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, 30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. 31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
What I will be focusing on in this book is . . .
The Outward Anointing (The Anointing Upon)
1 Kings 18: 46 And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
Ezekiel 37:1 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
Judges 3:10 And the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.
Judges 14:6 And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon Samson, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
2 Chronicles 20:14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation; 15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
Obviously both the inward anointing and the corporate anointing are important. However, this book will focus on the outward anointing which comes upon you to empower you to supernaturally minister to people’s needs.
As I have already said, it is not my desire or my purpose to teach about the anointing. Nevertheless, a certain amount of that may be necessary in order to illustrate my point and demonstrate what we are missing and what there is an absence of in the church today.
The purpose of this book is to point out that most churches, denominations, and ministries today have lost the anointing of God. It is to try to help you understand why there is no anointing. It is to challenge the Church to want to get the anointing back. This book is to sound an alarm, to stir, to challenge, and to refocus God’s Church on His call (purpose) and His method (presence, power, anointing). Therefore, I must remain focused on my God-given purpose and not allow myself to stray outside the parameters of what God has given me to do.
It is of primary importance to understand what the anointing is, what it does and why we need it so desperately. So let’s begin by defining what this thing called the anointing is.
Chapter Two
What The Anointing Is
Origin Of The Term Anointing
What is this thing called the anointing? I do not want this to be just another book about the anointing. But let’s begin by defining what it is that we are going to be talking about. There are many Hebrew and Greek words in relation to anointing. But for the sake of laying a specific foundation, I will only mention a few.
Anoint:
Hebrew – verb: Mashach: To rub with oil, to consecrate and to paint.
Cwk: Pronounce 'sook': To smear over.
Greek - Murizoz: To apply (unguent).
Meaning - The Basic meaning of the word anoint is to smear something on an object. Oil is used as a type or symbol of the Holy Spirit. To anoint something or someone is an act of dedication or consecration.
Hebrew - noun
Mashyach: 'anointed one' or one who is consecrated for a special office or function.
The Anointing Can Be Described In Many Ways
It is the weightiness of God’s presence.
It is the very touch of God.
It convicts, and it moves the hearts of men.
Under the weightiness of the anointing, you never joke when handling the Word.
It is God walking with you.
It is God working with and through you.
The anointing is the presence of the Holy Spirit coming upon you. It is the overflowing life of Jesus which imparts supernatural strength enabling you to perform a special task or function in an office he is called to.
In ancient times, God would anoint an individual to function effectively in a particular office. For example, He would choose a person and anoint him to stand in the office of a prophet. He would choose another and anoint him to stand in the office of a priest. He would choose still another one and anoint him to stand in the office of a king.
Interestingly, God did not choose those who were qualified. He chose those with the right heart and then He made them qualified them.
Acts 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
David, God's chosen one, had the anointing of a king, a prophet and also a priest.
David anointed as king – 1 Samuel 16:12 Arise, anoint him...
David anointed as prophet - 2 Samuel 28:2 ...The spirit of the Lord spoke by me...
David anointed as priest - 2 Samuel 24:25 ". . . And David built there an altar to the Lord,
