    About the Author

    Preface

Why should you read this book?

    - Some people OVEREMPHASIZE hard work (and others prayer) to the exclusion of other important factors necessary for success. Both sets of people get shell shocked, and are often frustrated, when things don’t work out the way they envisioned, without their knowing why. This book offers a BALANCED APPROACH which considers all the 9 specific ingredients for achieving one’s goals.

    - It’s BRIEF. So you won’t find yourself getting tired before reaching the core details being explained—and without compromising the quality of the lessons experts have been teaching since ancient times. In fact, the original (more than 2,000 years old) text from which THE FALLACY OF OVEREMPHASIZING HARD WORK draws its inspiration is itself one of the shortest books in existence. Yet millions of readers have benefited from its timeless wisdom.

    - I’ve written it FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER who has guided many students into successful careers over the past 22 years; also having been endorsed twice by the National University of Lesotho Innovations Hub.

Introduction—Could this be the cause of your frustration?

Many people often quote from the book of Proverbs. That includes even those who aren’t regular Bible readers. Maybe it’s because they find it applicable to life as we live it today. Take, for example, this quote:

Being lazy will make you poor, but hard work will make you rich.

    Proverbs 10:4 GNB

Hard work will bring success: at home, work or school. This is a widely accepted saying. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. How many hard working people do you know… who are frustrated because their hard work has not produced the results they expected? They know they should have achieved more. Some even feel like quitting.

So let’s quickly balance that saying with this one:

Show me someone who does a good job, and I will show you someone who is better than most and worthy of the company of kings.

    Proverbs 22:29 GNB

Wouldn’t you like to be better than most people? Think about it… when you apply for a job, wouldn’t you want to be considered ahead of most candidates? Or for any other opportunity, would you like to stand at the top or not? It’s not only hard work that’ll put you there, but the work you do
