    Introduction

In my books "Say Yes to No Debt, previously titled dfree®: Breaking Free From Financial Slavery, and dfree® Lifestyle: 12 Steps to Financial Freedom," I offer the best advice I could muster to inspire people to set and achieve financial goals. The results have been rewarding and fulfilling. And the process always begins with eliminating debt, controlling spending and remaining focused on one’s goals.

What I have discovered is that many people get started on their respective roads to financial freedom but have a difficult time sustaining their successes. In some cases, people actually eliminate all of their debt and start making substantial investments only to fall right back into their spending binges and debt-driven lifestyles.

In my teaching, I advise people to read materials that will enhance their knowledge about finances and help them stay on their respective courses. In fact I have stated that all of us should spend AT LEAST seven minutes every day doing something about our finances. These meditational readings were created to offer a resource for those that have chosen to do just that.

Every one of these daily meditations has four elements: a verse of scripture, a thought to ponder, a prayer to offer, and a decision to act. I believe that is our formula for success: a word from God, a thought about that word, a prayer that embraces what we learn from God’s word and a decision to take an action that gets us closer to our goal.

This book is designed to be used during a one-month period. You may start on any given day in any month. This is the first of a twelve-volume set of meditations. You will notice that the readings begin in the book of Genesis and proceed chronologically through the books of the Bible. If you decide to complete all twelve volumes, you would have considered texts from every book of the Bible!

My prayer is that you will find this a useful resource as you maintain your commitment to achieving and maintaining financial freedom.

    Verse

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 (NIV)

    Thought

Whenever I start anything, I always want to start at the beginning. To do otherwise is to engage in thought, discussion or action without understanding what is really happening. I can’t tell you how many years it took me to embrace that practice with my cars. I have been so guilty of just driving the car without first understanding
