About this ebook

The winds of change are here and now.
This book of poems draws on true stories to help people change their lives for the better and to position themselves to thrive in the ‘new world’.
The poems enable and empower the readers to learn and grow without fear. It achieves this through love and pure healing, so the people can look after themselves and others.
The book is structured so that people are enticed to read one poem each day across eleven groupings – depression; clearing; lessons; strength; awakening; prayer; love; people; children; special occasions; and passing over.
The readers will then understand what life is truly about.

For decades, Bea has used her unique life coaching skills to help people better understand life’s misfortunes, and has taught them to live, laugh and love again. One of these people reflected on the value of her conversations with Bea after the tragic death of her son, “Bea made me feel I was never alone. After every visit I would feel stronger and couldn’t wait for our next meeting. Bea shared so much of her wisdom, knowledge, guidance and counsel with me and I have her to thank for where I am at today. I have a whole new perspective on the power of life.”

We have a new book, just take a look.
The book of old is the story that’s told.
This book of today is here to stay.
The new world is lived and enjoyed this way.
Along with some past, you’ll know what’s to last.
It’s all here to say the new world way.
Come one and all, young, short and tall.
The old and the new, we have it for you.
It starts with the past, the pain that did last.
Now it’s the new, they cleared me and you.
Happy you’ll be when you do see, the you and me
When we are all free.
Our youth should know where the old have to go.
So, help the people to walk down the right road

    DEDICATION

T his book is dedicated to the many people along my paths in life, who helped with teaching and guiding as well as learning. There are many loving, dedicated souls who have inspired me to write this book of life’s learning so that others may also grow with wisdom in love and light.

Special gratitude to my husband, Bruce, and my family who have given unconditional love and encouragement through the years, supported my learning and quest in life – Nicole, Jacqueline, Glen and their partners Robert, Brendan and Sally, along with my grandchildren Elina, Elijah, Lucinda, Zachary, Ashton and Shauntelle. I wish to thank you all with pure and heavenly love for your patience and unending support.

I also thank my good friend Sherryl for putting up with me, and supporting and guiding me through all of the hard times and the many conversations we have had over the years of learning and interpreting these life lessons.

A special mention and huge thank you to Christine Sullivan of Christine’s Studio who painted the interpretive artwork for this book.

    DISCLAIMER

M ost of the stories in this book are informed by true life events. Personal and organizational identifiers have been removed or deliberately left vague, other than those listed in the dedication and acknowledgements. Accordingly, names, characters, events and incidents other than those explicitly cited should be viewed as either products of the author’s imagination or applied in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to organizations or actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

The title of the book respectfully uses ‘bible’ in the context of a book recognised as being authoritative in a particular sphere, in this case personal wellbeing. It recognises that people can improve their lives through personal wellbeing insights that help them remain resilient, establish social support, strengthen self-efficacy, and handle adversity. With mind, body and spirit working to their true potential, we are able to live happy, healthy lives, both now and in the future.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

A thank you goes to many here

They helped me so much and are very dear.

To mention all names seems pointless now.

The love I feel is tremendous and how

I want to hold each one in my heart.

    I think they know that, now I will start;

To all encouragement I have received,

My thanks to those who believed in me.

To those who read the words and cried,

The emotions you showed, gave you a new side.

For the love of my life, how patient you’ve been.

You always supported and stood by me.

For my children always deep in my heart.

My little angels, who stand apart.

To the one who worked so hard for me,

Together as one we will always be.

You gave me strength, love and were always there.

You I thank most for your loving and care.

You carried me through and because of you,

This book also belongs to you.

There’s one more here for thankfulness,

Thank you, Mary, you’re the best.

    OVERVIEW

A s a young girl of three, Bea migrated to Australia from The Netherlands with her family – parents and three brothers. It was not, however, a smooth transition into the Australian way of life. The family of six was housed in a small hut in an old army camp in the middle of nowhere that had very few playground or socialising facilities. It was just an interim place to stay before families could establish their own way of living, with their own home.

For a young girl, the camp was quite frightening as the other migrant families living there had come from different countries with different languages, not just from her homeland of The Netherlands. Communication and forging friendships were difficult. The days at the camp did not start well, with porridge for breakfast that was thick, gluggy, and lumpy, and it often had weevils swimming in it.

Bea and her family remained in the migrant camp for far longer than others, because her father was in a serious motorcycle accident soon after the family arrived in the country and this required a lengthy period in hospital, then convalescing.

As a young migrant girl, Bea could not speak English when she first started school in Australia, which left her feeling isolated from the rest of the class and very lonely. She had to watch other students so she could understand and undertake the classroom tasks that were set by her teacher. She had a first name and family name that rhymed, and other children took delight in making fun of it and her Dutch lunchtime treats like chocolate spread, chocolate hail, liverwurst or salami (which are now freely available at the local supermarket, though they were ‘strange’ in those days).

The challenges throughout her early years were compounded by having no family support network locally, with her extended family still living in The Netherlands. The circumstances caused a young Bea considerable anxiety and frequent migraines, that carried through to her adult life.

Bea recognised as a young mother that there are many people in the community who struggle from time to time, just as she had. These people often just need worldly advice, direction and encouragement (though they are not at a stage where they need treatment by medical specialists like psychologists). So, for much of the twenty-first century Bea has voluntarily filled the role of ‘life coach’, where she acts as an advisor to encourage people and help them make decisions, set and reach goals, or deal with personal challenges.

Modern and accessible video-conferencing technologies enabled Bea to expand her reach; she provides life coaching across Australia, Europe, UK and USA. Through this, she has left an indelible mark on the lives of many people and has given them a whole new perspective on the power of life.

Bea has recorded her experiences and those of some of the people she has helped in this book through a series of poems. These stories start with adversity and overcoming it, through to breaking free and living life. Several of the poems have been converted into songs and then recorded by a local singer.

The poems are grouped into eleven themes – depression; clearing; lessons; strength; awakening; prayer; love; people; children; special occasions; and passing over. The groupings are separated by exquisite original interpretative artworks by Christine Sullivan of Christine’s Studio in the Kurrajong Hills, who also provided the artwork for the cover.

The poems consider personal wellbeing holistically, by focusing on the mind, body and soul. When these elements are in tune, they provide the personal mechanics … the mind controls what the others feel; the body tells you how and what to do; and the soul controls your reactions from head to toes.

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

B ea was born in The Netherlands and migrated to Australia as a young girl. After an initial period in a migrant camp, her family settled in the Greater West of Sydney where she completed her education. She moved further west to the Blue Mountains in her late-teens before marrying, settling in the Nepean Valley, and having her own family.

She has worked across the banking, retail, and education sectors. And was a dedicated homemaker for her family. The 2000s saw Bea transition into the role of family matriarch and much-loved Oma (grandmother) with her six grandchildren.

Bea was surprised to be featured as a ‘Legend of the Nepean’ in the Nepean News newspaper in 2019. The article reflected upon Bea as a model citizen, and as one of the unheralded quiet achievers in the community; someone who invested her energy in helping others, and getting in and getting things done without fuss or fanfare. It also spoke of her standing as one of the most gifted, devoted and nurturing people in the Nepean Valley community.

    PREFACE

T he winds of change are here and now.

Our paths are making a turn somehow.

Sharp to the right is the way to go.

I must follow with the new flow.

I will go public and take a good look.

    I will write many books.

They keep me fed and help me to

    Spread the messages unto you.

From up high they come through me.

A tale to tell, a true story.

Learn from them all the meaning inside.

They’re out in the open, no words will hide

The true feelings and messages for you.

Read them all, the messages true.

Make it a habit to read one each day.

Your life will change for the better this way.

Understand what you read, it’s fun.

Then think about it, then another one.

Soon you’ll be able to figure out

    What this life is about.

Learn and grow without any fears.

We are all learning, that’s why we are here.

Look after yourself and all others too.

Love really works, the healing is pure.

Go forth my friends and do it well.

Learn about life and time will tell.

The changes that come on Earth you’ll see,

    When mankind will be free.

Free from themselves and others too.

Free to give love that’s pure and true.

    DEPRESSION

    image01.jpg

    Alone

    63734.png

    I will never be away.

For in your heart, I will always stay.

You think of me and wish me there,

Remember me to dissolve your cares.

I am here to comfort you.

    A smile, a touch, it’s what I do.

Just close your eyes and see my smile.

It makes a lonely day worthwhile.

Look at yourself and say this true,

What can I do today for you?

Where can I go to cheer up?

My heart needs some picking up.

    I’ll look around at everything,

The beauty of nature in spring.

I’ll start an interest that will please.

It will put my mind at ease.

The day is short and time slips by.

There is no time to waste and cry.

Off I go to fill my day.

I’ll have a laugh along the way.

And when this day is good and done,

I’ll know I did have some fun.

    Gathering my strength again.

To go forward with more days.

    Anxious

    63734.png

O h, come to me my little child.

Tell me the things that make you wild.

    Are they coming from within?

Or outside things to disturb you?

Who are they and what did they do?

Tell me how to deal with you.

You are not the way of wild.

Look back my sweet little child.

Before your anger has set in.

You were so innocent from within.

Someone or something put it there.

    The anger, torment and despair.

So young to have this is not true.

It seems to be a part of you.

How did you come to be this way?

    Was nature cruel to you?

They say it was one lonely night,

Alone you were with your plight.

A stranger came to you I see.

    The story just bewilders me.

And so, you’re left with one desire,

To quench your thirst of this great fire.

To you I can only say,

I’ll help you then go on your way.

    Blockages

    63734.png

T he need is now there

    To help those in despair.

    Their life has no meaning.

    Their problems are teeming.

    Down pours the woes,

From their head to their toes.

    There is no way out.

They want to scream and shout.

    They hold inside

    Their fears and their pride.

    They can’t find the day.

    To release all their pain.

    We try to help them,

    To relieve the problem.

    This to no avail,

They live on their black trail.

    All along life’s path,

    Others make a start

To clear and to be free.

It’s best when you have cleared.

You will lessen your own fears.

    Book of Me

    63734.png

    O h, look at me, I have a book.

It tells just how long it took

To get through life a way like mine.

Although I think that the last time

I read about my life as such,

It left out parts I liked so much.

It didn’t say which was the way,

That I had learnt my lessons gained.

It also left out from the start,

How people came and broke my heart.

Then all through school, I was alone.

Some friends I had but now they’re gone.

I had some fun along the way.

But from my path I seldom strayed.

Oh, dear me, now I do see,

That this book is really me.

Alone I was one sunny day,

When I was going to throw away

All my dreams and joyous fun,

    Because I felt so unloved.

No, this could not be me.

I am not past page 33.

The rest would not have been in there,

If I was ruled by my despair.

Thank you for the rest my friend.

I’m glad my book does have an end.

My helpful hand you’ve always been,

I feel you near, but cannot see

You on this earth beside me now.

I know you’re there, the book ends now.

    Colours

    63734.png

B lue, blue I think of you.

The colour says a lot that’s true.

It calms and heals, so soft to feel.

    It has majesty too.

Red, red the one I dread.

It’s strong and stands out from the rest.

    Passion heat like flames alight,

The colour red so very bright.

    Green, green is always seen,

When grass is around both you and me.

    The cooling softness always there,

    Green brings me from despair.

White is light, clean and bright.

Made up of all the others combined.

It’s clear and see through pure with zing.

    Yes, white is very energising.

    Black, black, imagine that.

    There are no colours left.

    Some others just totally lack

    The darkness that it bears.

I see before me eyes in pain.

    A soul fragmented, torn again.

Something is dark and sombre inside.

A hurt of emotion you cannot hide.

The depth is there and quashed it has been.

Through many years and darkest dreams.

Time has taken its toll on you.

Come with me and I’ll help you through.

I’ll bring to the surface the problems there.

I’ll do it with love because I care.

You need to look at yourself right now.

You need to care enough to ask how.

I will show you how to clear.

Then take you on to what’s next from here.

Listen to me and your pain will be gone.

Take heed to my words, I won’t leave you alone.

I will be with you each step of the way.

Until you start reaching much brighter days.

Be true to yourself and others as well.

The time is now for you to tell

All your grievances, troubles and woes.

From the top of your head right down to your toes.

Free your mind and your spirit too.

I’ve said enough, it’s now up to you.

    Depressed

W hen it seems all hope is gone,

When you have no reason to go on.

When life is a down not up.

When you are ready to give up.

    When no-one understands you now.

When time for you is out somehow.

When getting up is hard to do.

When life seems tough just for you.

When things seem hopeless with no end.

There’s one thing on which you can depend.

There are always people you can call.

There’s always help for each and all.

There’s God who stands right by your side.

There’s hope and peace towards the light.

There’s love and honour, truth as well.

There’s strength in knowing this as well.

There’s always choice in what to be.

There are ways for you to be free.

With a little help you know.

With love and kindness, you’ll be shown.

With a path to make you strong.

With us you’ll learn to carry on.

With this in mind, then talk to me.

With guidance, you will soon see.

With health and time your strength will grow.

    With independence, you will know.

That all’s not lost for future years.

That time forgot those nasty fears.

That you are much stronger now.

That life belongs to you somehow.

That with some help from others too.

That control is now left up to you.

    Desperation

T he fire is there within your eyes.

Oh no to me this is no surprise.

Your past was very turbulent see,

You don’t have to say anything to
