1 Digital Marketing Explained
Nowadays, the internet seems like a common part of everyone's life. You may be surprised to know that the number of people going online every day is increasing!
Since the invention of smartphones, social media, and wife, people have spent more time on the internet every day. From the youngest children to the oldest people, many now need digital devices and the internet to do some routine tasks.
So, where is a better place than this great community to advertise your product or service?
Steve Jobs once said,
The smallest company in the world can look as large as the largest company on the web.
This article will discuss the power and importance of digital media in marketing and thoroughly explain what digital marketing is.
What is Digital Marketing?
Digital marketing or online marketing is the act of using digital media as a channel for marketing. In other words, it is applying marketing practices using digital media and the internet to increase your brand awareness. Websites, social media, emails, and content production are all types of digital marketing.
Considering how using the internet and digital media is epidemic nowadays can help understand the power and importance of digital marketing.
Why Digital Marketing Matters So Much?
Utilizing digital media to advertise your product or service and increase your brand awareness helps you to reach a larger audience (compared to using traditional methods). Moreover, it's more cost-effective and beneficial, too.
Let me give you an example. Imagine a product or service you want to present to your potential clients. Of course, you want to reach as many people as you can, so you'd be able to sell your product or service to more clients. Now, what can be more effective than publishing Cathay content on the internet?
Thanks to smartphones, everyone (everyone all over the world) has access to the internet and digital media. All you need to do is create and publish the right content, and it's done! Everyone will have it right in their pockets.
Other Benefits of Digital Marketing:
● You can concentrate your efforts on prospects (clients) who are most likely to buy your product or service.
● It is a more cost-effective technique of marketing than outbound methods.
● Within your industry, it levels the playing field and enables you to compete with larger businesses.
● It is a measurable activity. So, you can analyze and improve it.
● A digital marketing strategy is more adaptable and changeable. (compared to traditional methods of marketing)
● It helps you increase your conversion rate and lead quality.
● You can engage people at any level.
Let's dive into each benefit deeper:
1. You can concentrate your efforts on prospects who are most likely to buy your product or service.
You have minimal control over who sees your advertisement if you place it on television, in a magazine, or billboard. While certain demographics can be quantified — such as the magazine's average audience or the demographic of a particular neighborhood — it is essentially a guessing game.
On the other hand, digital marketing enables you to discover and target a highly targeted audience and offer that audience personalized, high-converting marketing communications.
For example, you may use social media's targeting attributes to display social media advertisements to a specific audience based on criteria such as age, gender, geography, hobbies, networks, or behaviors. Alternatively, you might utilize PPC or SEO methods to target customers who have expressed curiosity about your product or service or who have looked for specific industry-related keywords.
Finally, digital marketing helps you undertake the essential research to define your buyer persona and iteratively update your marketing approach to ensure you're targeting the most qualified prospects. Most importantly, digital marketing enables you to appeal to subsets of your wider target population. This is especially beneficial if you sell various products or services to distinct consumer personas.
2. It is less expensive than traditional outbound marketing strategies.
Digital marketing helps you monitor campaigns daily and adjust your budget accordingly if a channel does not generate a positive investment return. On the other hand, traditional types of advertising cannot be said the same way. It makes no difference how well your billboard performs – it costs the same regardless of whether it performs for you.
Additionally, you have complete control over how your money is spent with digital marketing. Rather than paying for PPC advertisements, you may instead invest in design tools that enable you to generate high-converting Instagram content. A digital marketing strategy enables ongoing pivoting, ensuring that you never waste money on ineffective channels.
For example, if you work for a small firm with a low budget. You can consider investing in social media, blogging, or SEO - three tactics that can provide a high return on investment even with a tiny investment.
3. Digital marketing level the playing field within your sector, enabling you to compete against larger firms.
If you work for a small firm, you're probably finding it tough to compete with the industry's major brands, many of which have millions of dollars to spend on television advertisements and national campaigns. Fortunately, there are numerous ways to outrank established firms via effective digital marketing campaigns.
For instance, you can choose a few long-tail keywords relevant to your product or service and then generate high-quality content to assist you rank for those keywords in search engines. Search engines are unconcerned with the brand's size; rather, they emphasize the material that interacts most with the target audience.
4. Digital marketing is a measurable activity.
Digital marketing can provide a comprehensive, end-to-end view of all the metrics important to your business, such as impressions, shares, views, clicks, and time on page. This is one of the most significant advantages of digital marketing. While traditional advertising can be effective for certain purposes, its primary shortcoming is its inability to be quantified.
In contrast to most offline marketing initiatives, digital marketing enables marketers to monitor accurate results in real-time. If you've ever imposed an advertisement in a newspaper, you know how tough it is to define how many people flipped to that page and noticed your advertisement. There is no certain method to determine whether or not that advertisement resulted in any purchases.
On the other hand, almost any component of your marketing activities can be quantified with digital marketing.

Consider creating a product brochure and mailing it to people's letterboxes – that brochure is a sort of content, albeit an offline one. The issue is that you have no idea how many people looked at your brochure or how many discarded it immediately.
Now consider having that booklet available on your website instead. You may track the number of visitors to the website where it is hosted and gather the contact information of those who download it using forms. Not only can
