I was always taking risks. I guess I was something of a 'managed' thrill-seeker, but I always saw it as being a treasure hunter. But the world was more of a digital place, than it was a physical one, if you were after such things. The ebbs and flows of cryptocurrency were a rollercoaster, ever since their inception. More were popping up all the time. Plenty were crashing. Public opinion was mixed on them as being viable or useful. But to me, it was just a way to make a living. Even before graduating highschool, I had dabbled with crypto. But after graduation, I really came into my own by getting my own place, using the money I made by trading crypto, to fund every aspect of my life. When I wasn't doing that, I was usually playing games with friends or socializing in a number of online spaces. I hadn't been one to go out and physically socialize with others, even if the local scene in my city was always lively. The curiosity was there, and I always loved seeing a beautiful woman in a fun club-going outfit, whether it was something more upscale and classy, or more underground and alternative. Even the in-between areas had plenty of cool aesthetic. I just knew that as a guy, I was pretty average. Navigating social spaces, where people were mostly intent on getting high, drunk, or hooking up...well, it sounded nice, but it made me anxious, so I kept away from it all and remained in the circles that I felt safe and comfortable in.

It was a Monday night and I was sitting at my computer desk, with dull white neon cords running along the edges of my room. My apartment was definitely more 'efficiency' than spacious, but I didn't need much. Most of the assets that I cared about, that I owned, were digital. A powerful character in a game. A valuable plot of land in another, that I was growing virtual avocados with, to sell in a game where I would then make currency, which I could convert into another currency...to then turn into usable dollars to buy things in the real world, or the digital one. But 'that' plot of land had become less lucrative, so I sold it off for a tidy profit, which I re-invested in a new crypto currency.

A message on my monitor popped up, which I clicked on.

Trent: You moving on JavaCoin?

I quickly responded.

Rob(Me): Yeah, I've shifted a bunch of my recent sales into it.

Trent: Nice, I've got about 10% of my wealth on it at the moment. But I'm getting as good a vibe on this one.

Rob(Me) Don't say that! It's going to be great. We're going to make a ton on this. If you're worried about being 10% invested, then I guess I shouldn't tell you I'm 50% in.

Trent: You're crazy. XD

As our message-based conversation came to a close, I decided to do some more research on JavaCoin, just so I could be more confident that what I was doing, was right. My net worth was around $300,000. I was doing...pretty good for myself, I thought. I would sometimes make big purchases, like new PC equipment or otherwise, or virtual assets that sometimes panned out, sometimes didn't. But overall, I was consistently doing well, but I couldn't help but be hungry for more.
