Felix saw that the mysterious package that had arrived at his office was indeed addressed to Professor Holliman’s office in the anthropology building, but there was no return address. It didn’t have any sort of tracking numbers or labels on it either. He asked where it came from and was told by his student assistant Nadia that is had arrived via courier that morning.

He opened the box and a strange, verdant smell hit him in the face. It was so pungent that it almost caused him to gag. He reached in and found something wrapped and padded in layers of butcher paper, and the smell grew stronger as he pulled the packing material aside.

What do you think this is? he asked, holding a strange artifact. He pushed his glasses up his nose, his brown eyes looked huge when magnified by his coke bottle lenses. The object looked like bones lashed together with sinew, and it was covered in this strange resin or sap that attached bright colored feathers all over it.

Nadia frowned and took it from him. This looks familiar. She mused. It looked huge in her dainty little hands. He always had a thing for petite, short women and she was exactly that. Five-foot two in shoes was perfect.

You’ve seen something like this before? he asked, surprised. I don’t remember ever seeing something like this.

Let me do some research. I think I know where to start looking. she said excitedly as she ran to the computer.
