I had been working at a call center for the last three years. I was lucky enough to get the job right out of highschool and it paid pretty well for the area. Handling customer calls wasn't what I would call a 'great' job, but I tolerated it and made some friends amongst my coworkers. Several of them I played video games with online and sometimes we'd hit a bar on a Friday night. I'd never really had a 'best friend' back in school, but there was one guy who I got along with pretty well and we'd quickly become good friends. He was probably the closest thing to a 'best friend' I'd ever had, if I had to use such a label. His name was Remmy and he was a Call Center Specialist who worked in my department. When our company said it was starting to restructure and downsize, everyone in our building thought they were going to lose their jobs. Remmy and I were even discussing moving in together since my lease was up, just in case we needed to save some money and take lesser jobs in town. But as our luck would have it, almost all of the specialists who worked for the company kept their jobs. The building itself was closed down and a lot of management and supervisor positions were eliminated. The company had transitioned to a 'work from home' style for its employees in an attempt to cut costs and promote growth. Now, Remmy, myself and everyone else I knew at the company, all worked from home.

It took a little getting used to, but I vastly enjoyed the transition. My coworkers and I had separate computers setup for gaming purposes while we were on calls. As a result, work became a lot more stress-free. Overall, what could've been a pretty bad situation, ended up being pretty great for everyone I knew (or at least liked) at the company and...life was good.
