INTRODUCTION
Maturity means that a person has reached the last stage of growth. A person who has not yet reached this stage is immature. It's easy to understand when it comes to physical development, but what does it mean to be emotionally immature?
Emotional maturity is defined as a high and adequate level of emotional control and expression by the American Psychological Association. On the other hand, emotional immaturity is a tendency to express emotions unreservedly or disproportionately to the situation. In other words, emotional behavior that gets out of hand or is inappropriate for the situation can be considered immature. It is more the emotional response that one would expect from a kid than from an adult.
Signs Of Emotional Immaturity;
Emotionally immature people do not meet society's expectations for social behavior within their age group. An adult is expected to be able to consider how he affects others and to pay attention to his feelings. Emotionally mature people can gracefully accept criticism and learn from it. Emotionally mature adults can think and effectively plan for the future. But people with emotional immaturity struggle with these things.
Emotionally immature people lack certain emotional and social skills and find it difficult to come to terms with other adults. Certain behaviors can indicate that you are dealing with an emotionally immature person:
Impulsive Behavior: Kids are often impulsive. They speak out of order or touch and say things they are not supposed to touch or say. They say things without thinking about how what they say will affect others. Over time, they learn not to do these
