Motivation; Why You Lack it How You Can Build and Maintain it - Lorins Sam
Introduction
Motivation is derived from the word move
and it means to move
. Motivation literally means; that which moves a person to action. Motivation refers to a movement that is initiated for a reason or purpose. This is an important point to understand; having a reason and a goal will activate motivation. For example, it's hard to go somewhere if you cannot see a reason or purpose. In other words, you need a motive or a good reason why you should do your best and create some speed and go further than where you are now. If you really want to do something, you are more likely to be motivated; you do not have to try, you just want to do it. Also, remember that you may have a reason and a purpose for NOT being motivated; in that case, you will not move
.
One of the best things you can do for yourself on your self-discovery journey is to find out what drives you. The first step is to identify your values, as they aid your motivation and drive behind everything you do in life. When you appreciate something, you will always find the motivation and energy to do so. If you do not appreciate something, you will always struggle to find the motivation and energy to do so.
Your values are important to you. It is the broad concepts that guide your decisions in life and form the basis of your character. How you spend your time is also determined by your values. For example, if you’re most important value is health, you will spend your time very differently than someone whose most important value is career or family.
Values also drive all your motivation. You will not take any action unless it relates to something you value at a certain level. By identifying your values, you can start your own motivation, set goals that suit you, and spend time on things that are important to you.
Motivating Yourself When You Aren't Inspired
It is only natural that some days you are less motivated than others. In many cases, mood swings that damage your motivation can
