Never Forget Your First Love - Richard Stamper

    INSPIRATIONAL

    NEVER FORGET YOUR FIRST LOVE

Never forget your first love; God created everything under the heavens’ Sun Before we were born, He knew everything about us before we

were each born, one by One

I must always remember where I came from and what I was Taught

‘Cause salvation is free for the asking; it can’t be peddled, sold, or Bought

I was brought up in the Church; taught the Word along with song and Praise

I Left the Church for the world wanting the experience,

but it was not of God’s Ways

God tells us we are the salt of the Earth, but if we’re

not careful we can lose our Savior

Gang banging, selling drugs, or drinking are not of God’s Way,

    but the wrong Flavor

We are all different; no two the same; we all have different Characteristics If we don’t change our ways of living, we will all

    eventually become only Statistics

We have a chance; God’s door is always open no matter what your Condition

Just need to change our ways ‘cause God has given us Remission

We all have a stubborn nature that causes us to fall by the Wayside

It is not a good choice but, stubborn as mules, off we go

    forth with our foolish Pride

When Christ rose on the third day, He ascended to his Father up Above

Because He died for all the sinners of the world,

    Never Forget Your First Love

    REST MOTHER

Rest Mother; we’re here today to pay our last Respects

Here lies a Queen whose family or community she would never Neglect

A free-hearted person who would sacrifice all and give you her Last

She loved flowers and gardening; her sense of humor was a Blast

She was a person who went to any length and stayed on the Grind

If things were not done correctly, she’d give you a piece of her Mind

She reached out to everyone on matters of race, color, or Creed

She perpetually said we’re all God’s children; we all do Bleed

As a respected woman who had abiding love for all of Mankind

Now you can rest; your run race is run; your love is given,

    and you were Blind

I’ll continue my journey with God; you and Dad set the Stage

I appreciate you to the highest; Lord keep me on that same Page

I have been here for you; I watched you when you were up or Down

God called you home; now you can receive your Crown

Thank you all for coming to show your respect and Appreciation

This honor she deserves from everyone, is your standing Ovation

God called you home, now you can see Dad, your sister, and Brother

The Lord kept you all through these years; now rest Mother

    BLACK MAN

Black Man go out and get an education; build

    intelligence to make yourself Bigger

It’s really below us all to greet fellow African Americans

    by calling out Nigger

We’ve come a long way since times of

The Depression when our ancestors Slaved

Seems like we’ve forgotten about our family ties; look how we Behave

We fail to express our love to our children; it’s something we just don’t Show We have a tendency to get angry with them as though we

have no clue which way to Go

Our Sons carry on our names with promised hope and

anticipation; turns out to be Lies

Have to remember this is your seed planted; make

    amends, and restore the Ties

Let’s take some time with our children; showing

our love, and showing we Care

Show them guidance and direction; give them love with no Despair

Most of us are from broken homes being raised with a push and a Shove

So, it might be hard to express yourself to show any real abiding Love

Days of old, during the time of slavery, brought to this land by Ship

We still showed love, respect, and unity, even if at the cost of

    lashes from a master’s Whip

We are falling by the wayside; stealing and killing off

    our sisters and Brothers

It’s time for us to wake up, young and old, to see the

    faces of grieving Mothers

Africans were a strong race of people; thinking positively and

trying to do all that we Can

‘Cause long as God sits on the throne; we all can

    stand tall, Black Man

    HOODRATS

Hoodrats are people who never venture out of their Town

Walking in our city and staying in bounds or just riding Around

They are the people who run to and fro in a square Mile

Knowing they will never leave; not even for a While

Standing on corners, hanging out, youngsters remain Illiterate

Not having any respect for anyone; they are truly Inconsiderate

We try to show them life has a lot to offer out in the World

Must make sacrifices for every man, woman, boy and Girl

We just can’t focus on money or all the cars that we Got

‘Cause all the money you made could have built a respectable Spot

It’s hard to find a good woman to be with you until your own

    value you can Defend

You say that you are in love, but you’re better off to be a Friend

Grew up around people and gangsters known as Tough

Didn’t spend a lot of time bumping their gums or

    talking any constructive Stuff

These people are always in the neighborhood; they are the same old Cats

So, every time you see the same old faces; these are called the Hoodrats

    HURT AND PAIN

Hurt and Pain is what we have experienced all through the Years

Spent a lot of emotion, a lot of blood, sweat, and Tears

Our lives have dealt with chaos, put our futures in a lot of Turmoil

Have gotten so mad; put us in a rage; our blood begins to Boil

Relationships start off on a bad start, everything seems to go Sour

Don’t be fooled by the Devil, there’s only one being who has all Power

Youngsters like to think they are all that - what a thought Sensation

Please listen to your elders ‘cause we’re about to lose this Generation

Reach out to someone, start talking about all your problems Within

Struggling while smoking weed, drinking, using ecstasy, or sniffing Heroin

Standing on street corners all day, trying to peddle some Crack

Watching out for the law; so-called partners and watching your Back

Been lucky so far, made a little money, but you may have Missed’em

    Won’t be long ‘for your luck runs out; for when ‘yer caught;

    stuck in the System

Go through mood swings; lost all respect for your father and Mother

Jealous of another Black Man; want to gun down a Brother

Hustling is not the answer while standing in the cold or in the Rain

Causing grief in family lives; it leaves behind Hurt and Pain

    CHANGE OF A NEW LEAF

Change of a New Leaf, to most, sounds like a change of the Seasons

Really just thanking God for his blessings; I have so many Reasons

Was brought up with good parents in a really good Household

The problem was me; my off-course journey is my story never Told

We have different seasons; go around year after Year

God made us courageous, but did not give us an adequate spirit of Fear

The Devil wants to kill us with diseases very Contagious

God has given us the spirit of hope; need to be bold and Courageous

My warped way of thinking led to all I ever knew - jails and Institutions

He has shown me a better way of living; it’s the spiritual Solution

Majority of us break the laws, but then get jobs, and then try to Camouflage

Thinking that you are untouchable, believe me, it’s
