About this ebook

Are we a microcosm of the emotional, psychological and spiritual dysfunction we see all around us, in our families, in our societies and in the world?

In what way are we affected by and do we perpetuate this chaos?

Why haven’t personal healing paths manifested change on a larger scale? How can we create transformational healing that is inclusive of the entire macrocosm?

DEEP Origin explores how fallen natures became imprinted on our hearts, passing through the lineage to reconstitute themselves in each successive generation as dysfunctional emotional human patterns. Early life experiences trigger the creation of psychic wounds in each of us—reminiscent of the original breakdown in the Garden of Eden. These wounds were perceived as unbearable to our child selves and we reacted by creating the personality defenses and masks we live behind.

DEEP Origin Healing starts with the premise, “Where there is Divine Energy, there can be Emotional Process.” Bringing God and Goddess love into the equation changes everything…

    DISCLAIMER

Although anyone may find the information in this book useful, it is made available with the understanding that the material it contains is not intended to be a diagnosis, prescription, recommendation, treatment or cure for any specific kind of psychological, emotional, spiritual or physical issue. Each person has unique needs and individual circumstances, and this book cannot take these individual circumstances into account. Each individual needs to engage in and take responsibility for his or her own path of healing.

As authors, we take responsibility for any errors or lack of clarity found in this work. The ideas presented here are part of a strategy for self-awareness and personal healing. We introduce these concepts knowing well that they may be foreign to many people and difficult to recognize at first on a personal level and so we challenge the reader to weigh the information with introspection, prayer or meditation. Perusal of the Divine Principle, the Bible, and the growing body of literature on process healing, many of which are listed in the bibliography, will also supplement your understanding. We offer this work as a springboard for deeper self-awareness in this time of great upheaval.

    Regarding this Revised Edition

In this revised edition we have rearranged the order of several chapters and combined entire sections from separate chapters together when the information was sufficiently interrelated. We also removed the chapter on the auric fields (human energy fields) until a time when we can gain a more experiential understanding of how they are impacted by our defenses.

    The Many Names of God

A clear use of language is only the first step in building a bridge between the providential work of religion and the personal, transformative work of psychology. In this book, we alternate between both worldviews, adding elements of Unification theology to the mix.

There are many names humanity has for God. In referring to a Higher Power or Supreme Being, we want to be considerate of the many traditions, views and beliefs and so we alternate sometimes between several terms including ‘God,’ ‘the Divine Spirit,’ ‘the Divine Feminine,’ ‘Goddess,’ ‘the Creator,’ and ‘Heavenly Parent’; and yet, for the most part, we use the masculine ‘Him’ or ‘His’ pronouns. This does not mean that God is only masculine. The bible states, God created in His own image, male and female He created them. (Gen 1:27). God’s masculine, yang, fatherly energy is vertical and active in the sense that it initiates and develops; while the Divine Feminine is yin, motherly and embracing. These characteristics can be seen throughout the natural world and within each created being. Heavenly Parent is the harmonious union of these dual characteristics and the root of their marriage is love.

    PREFACE

I n the early spring of 1996 I (Robert) came into Dr. Kevin Pearson’s office in a high-rise in Manhattan. Kevin was a naturopathic doctor doing counseling in the evenings. I first met Kevin in 1983 when we worked together as missionaries in the Unification Church, but I hadn’t seen him in years. I had just come to New York from Russia following my wife, Janice—ours was an arranged marriage by Rev. Sun Myung Moon and we hadn’t come together yet as a couple. In fact, we were completely at odds and I was at my wit’s end trying to understand what I could do to make things work between us. I tried to encourage her to do couple’s counseling with me, but she would have none of it. She wanted me to do counseling by myself, because I was the one who was screwed up. So I met with Kevin and we agreed that if I worked together with him perhaps we could get me in a better position to work things out with Janice.

In our first session I came in and sat down. He asked me, What’s the first thing that comes to your mind? What’s the first feeling? If you would, describe what your feelings are right now. After a short pause, I replied, Joy. And he said, Okay, okay, so you are feeling joy. That’s good. But I want you to go a little bit deeper than that. I want you to look under the surface. Tell me what you feel under that. And so I looked under the surface and after another short pause replied, Death.

We both had a good laugh about that. But it was from that outlook that he was able to begin the work with me that would show me my distortions and masks and the places where I was unable to look at my own issues. My journey with Kevin had always been that kind of deeper level, under the surface, seeking-to-understand type of relationship.

Later that spring, after Janice and I experienced a breakthrough and started our family life together, Kevin and I reached the end of our therapy sessions.

In the last session he paused to open himself to spirit and ask what the future might have in store for me in the realm of healing work. What comes to mind is…Reiki, he said slowly. I did not know quite what to think of that. We said our good-byes and that was the last time I saw him in the physical world. He passed into the spiritual world thirteen years later in 2009.

In 2006, we were living in Seattle and I was attending the Northwest School of Healing, a four-year hands-on healing school in Redmond, WA. In the first class, Alima Pat Hamilton, our teacher and the founder of the school, announced as part of the curriculum that we would be required to receive all levels of Reiki attunements and become Reiki masters. I learned a lot about myself that year, and when it came time to receive the final symbols of my attunement from her, I had a deep and tearful experience with God.

In 2009, when Kevin was suffering from terminal cancer and close to crossing over to the spirit world, I asked him over the phone if I could give him distance Reiki as a way to help him prepare. He agreed, and through a series of seven healing sessions I worked with him to help make his transition the offering he longed for it to be, much as his other friends and family members were helping him to prepare physically. I later emailed him the transcript of the sessions, which his wife Susana read aloud to him. He passed that night into spirit.

In the following year, I began sensing his presence more and more as our common interest in process healing and Divine Principle brought us back together in heart. I began a dialog with him in the form of automatic writing, which I had done in years past. What started as a trickle of conversation soon became a river of information. We began by discussing my fallen natures and the process work I was already utilizing.

Over the next year—and after Janice had also attended the NWSH—we worked with Kevin to bridge the language between the fallen natures described in the Divine Principle and the language of process healing.

The model presented in this book is based on the work my wife and I have done over the past ten years with chakras, the human aura, and energetic defenses and masks, together with the Divine Principle, which we have studied and worked with for over 34 years each. It is a synthesis of biblical metaphor, psychodynamic principles, energetic dimensions and spiritual laws. It is a new revelation.

What is presented here is not official doctrine of the Unification Church, now known as the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), and should not be construed as such. This is the effort of several Unificationists working together to give voice to the connections between the universal principles we have encountered and found to be true and relevant on the path of healing.

To our friend Michael Moriarty Mellor, thank you for the valuable insights into the Kabbalah. And for the helpful feedback and support of many friends, you know who you are.

We are sincerely grateful to Dr. Alima Pat Hamilton whose work with us over eight years was indispensable in facilitating us unlocking both the internal knowledge of our own defenses, as well as the information that led us to see how the defenses were related to the fallen natures outlined in the Divine Principle.

To our children, Augustine, Elijah and Ayelen, we thank you for your patience and support, and not a few very helpful comments.

To Heung Jin Moon, Kevin Pearson, Christopher Maddox, Mr. Tate, Thaddeus Stauber, Jules, Eva, Maria, and others in the spiritual realm who gave guidance, inspiration, and validity to our words.

    INTRODUCTION

F or many of us, much of our daily life goes by in a blur with all the activities and interactions happening and flowing together. When we encounter conflicts and bumps in the road, we seek to deal with them by using the skills we were taught, or taught ourselves, in the process of growing up and living life, taking little time or inclination to consider the emotional undercurrents of our lives. Yet it is with these emotions under the surface that we often interact with other people.

Traumatic events such as divorce, injury, or the death of a loved one can cause us to question the reality we often take for granted. Sometimes even a not-so-traumatic event when piled onto the many already-existing layers of complexity in our lives becomes the last straw.

In the history of human spiritual development, religion and philosophy have sought to understand life’s purpose and meaning and the cause of human suffering. Yet, when we look at the human condition, we seem to have remained largely ignorant of our purpose, why we suffer and what we can do about it.

Fortunately, in the last century the development of various psychoanalysis methods such as somatic psychology and body psychotherapy emerged utilizing bodywork in developing avenues of internal self-examination never before considered. Along with this development came the expansion of language and ideas used to explain and explore spiritual growth to a broader scope of people seeking a paradigm shift. Many people have had transformative experiences with body movement therapies, energy healing, hypnosis, meditation, bioenergetics, biofeedback, or one of the many other healing modalities available today, as they have sought to advance and improve their self-awareness, recognizing the need for balance between spirit, mind, and body.

Countless nuggets of truth have been uncovered along the many paths that human beings have traveled to become more enlightened. These have illuminated the path to deeper understanding. One level at a time, we have elevated our collective consciousness to the point where today there is a greater
