Preface and Purpose
To teach people how to live a more healthy, happy, and successful life, I will endeavor to help people to change by example. When I change, the world changes. If I can teach two people how to live a better, healthier life, they in turn can share and teach two others and we can change the world by duplication.
Introduction
I heard a recent statement about our children, that the next generation (our children) will be one of the 1st generations not to outlive their parents.¹ Does that mean we should be prepared to bury our children? This should be a wakeup call, to all parents. Are we paying attention to all the junk we are feeding our kids? The processed, packaged, fast foods our children are eating are full of chemicals, preservatives and large amounts of sugar. The average child is ingesting about ½ pound of sugar daily. One of the biggest contributors to that statistic are carbonated soft drinks. These soft drinks are loaded with high fructose corn syrup. These foods and beverages all contribute to our obesity epidemic. The fake foods we are giving to our children are full of empty calories, simple carbohydrates, and antinutrients. It appears that the food giants are more concerned with the bottom line and their profits than with our health and the health of our children. The standard American diet
(SAD) is full of pesticides chemicals and simple sugars. The current population is overfed and mal-nourished; we have become one of the most obese nations on mother earth.
We are under way too much stress and there is never enough time to accomplish our daily tasks. We also rely on fast foods too much. By day’s end we are exhausted and have nothing left in our tank. Therefore, we have no energy to do any kind of exercise which would help us lose some pounds and give us back some of the greatly needed energy that we are lacking.
We sit too much.² We cannot help ourselves if we do not know what to do or how to do it. One study indicated that our children are exposed to over 10,000 TV ads annually. More than half of these ads are glorifying sugary snacks, cereals and drinks.³
Additionally, they make fast food joints look like fun.
I would like to give the American people a sort of guide book or life style manual. We will use the basic principles of, nutrition, moderate exercise, attitude adjustment, service, gratitude, and overall life style changes. When each of us changes, the world changes. Whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve
.⁴
We do not have the traditional nuclear family that used to exist 60 years ago where the family gathered around the table and ate whole foods together. Today we have many single parent families, most of whom are forced to work outside the home, and have little energy left at the end of a busy day to cook in a hot kitchen. Even those families who are fortunate enough to have two parents, both parents are many times working long hours and by day’s end are very tired and stressed out.
Now is the time to take back control of your life, your health and the health of your children. All day every day we make choices to do this or that. To eat this or not eat this. We choose to embrace negative thoughts (ANTS)⁵ or we do not. We can change our thoughts and our attitudes. Your thoughts matter. If you want to feel good, think good thoughts. Now is the time to change our priorities. What is important to you? Is it more money, a new car, trendy clothes, more stuff, or our health and wellbeing and the of health our children? Your response may be that I do not have children. OK, do you want more energy, do you want to sleep better at night? How would you like to
