Weve all battled monsters in our lives. They abused us sexually, mentally, and/or emotionally. Ive battled with all kinds of monsters in my life, and for years, I hated myself and thought I wasnt loved. In the end, I learned theres light at the end of each tunnel. I found love and happiness for myself and forgave my abusers. Learning how to cope with a battle isnt something youre taught but something you learn. Ive learned to get over every hurdle by writing down my pain. Abuse is never okay, so speak up and speak out.

As a teenager I suffered from depression and anxiety, this is common amongst many young adults, however, we are not taught to discuss our feelings but to hold it in. I turned to poetry as an escape goat. When I first began to write I was young and had a few poems published at the Brooklyn Public Library, Macon branch. I use to hang out at the library everyday after school and one of the librarians told me about the course. I fell out of writing and picked up the pen, again, when I was a teen. My poems were full of rage and anger. I had no way of expressing myself other than punching in walls. This time around my poems are different I show all forms of emotions mostly love. I started writing again in December of 2017. I was trying to sleep one night and couldnt the poem keep developing in my head and I couldnt sleep until I wrote it down. Each poem is a story of my life and based on true events. Im a free-lanced writer. I write poetry based on my life and struggles and hope to reach out to others who have faced some of the difficulties I have. If I can help someone to know theyre not alone and others who has gone through the same struggles Ill be blessed. I hope my poetry reach others that have suffered the same turmoil and provide faith to know they can overcome their struggles. I battled with these issues and had little to no faith in believing I would come out a victor. All it takes is prayer and faith in God, you never know the angels assigned to you. All it takes is one day at a time, although, it may seem as all odds are against, the strength of God will move through you.

Open my mouth and out comes an echoed silence
