    I fall to rise again

    My letters to judy

    Because of you

    I need you

    Like sunrise

    The ancient path

    The therapist

    You can rise again

    Wasted day

    Courage

    Looking back

    Looking up

    Looking ahead

    Omissions

    I will let go

    Forgiven much

    I have forgotten

    Little sparks

    The healing effects of forests

    Heavy heart

    One gift

I must go to the hills

    On the mountain

    The peace of the mountain

    A dream

    Surround me

    Emotions

    Conscience

    Raining

    After the strife

    Passing storm

    You will forget

    During a storm

    As lilies turn to light

    Yesterday

    Where lives are mended

    After the pain

    Hills to climb

    Lifes meaning

    It takes so little

    A caring friend

    Fruitful day

    At night

    Without the night

    Teach me to trust

    Rainy days

    In the morning

    Morning prayer

    Invitation

    Quiet moments

    Evening

    Broken

    It doesn’t pay

    Conversion

    New beginning

    The way i feel

It’s morning on the other side

    Provision

    Speak again

    Be still

    A million things to praise

    I trust him

    Light up your candle

    Friendship

    You lifted me

    I’m not afraid

    Beyond the setting sun

    No winter’s chilling breeze

    Draw near

    Winds of care

    Above the weather

    Moving mountains

    Stormy weather

    The weed

    Christ within

    My guest

    Like Jesus

    Don’t be afraid

    Dreaming

    Sowing and reaping

An ancient legend says after Peter denied Christ, he would hear the cock crowing each time he stood up to preach.

This would plunge him into dark despair, self-doubt, and embarrassment. Peter would pause for a moment in deep reflection. He would close his eyes, and then he would recover. From that point on, Peter preached with great conviction and sincerity. The story is just an old legend that may not be true, but it illustrates a great spiritual lesson.

Our past mistakes need not haunt our lives forever. Old failures, old sins repented, should help us appreciate forgiveness and strengthen our grip on God.

Think of some of the heroes of faith in the scriptures. Jacob, Samson, King David, Mary Magdalene, and the apostle Paul: all these and many others had a broken past. Failure brought them down on their knees. And when they connected with Christ, they rose up fully empowered to live a brand new life. Their experiences remind me of the tennis ball. The harder you toss it to the ground, the higher it bounces. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross once said, The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depth.

    I FALL TO RISE AGAIN

I entertained false dreams that crashed.

I planned and wished in vain.

But though I tripped, I’m like the tide.

    I fall to rise again.

I dreamed of heights beyond the stars,

    Yet tumbled on the plain.

    But I’m not whining in the ditch;

    Like wind, I rise again.

So long as God stands by my side,

    I triumph through all pain,

And I rebound just like a ball.

    I fall to rise again.

    I’ve promises I must fulfill.

    I’ve dreams I must attain.

I’ve set my eyes beyond the stars.

    God, help me rise again.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

    MY LETTERS TO JUDY

I first met Judy outside the Solusi College registrar’s office. A new semester had just started. It was the last day for late registration.
