No One to Tell, Someone to Care

About this ebook
She was raised in church, while behind closed doors, secrets reigned supreme. She repressed the memories, but over fifty years later they came pouring out as she struggled with clinical depression. These poems chronologically tell of the struggle, the failures, the fears, and the victories as Joyce made the journey to regain her life. They show how God is leading Joyce on a journey from tragedy to triumph through Him.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

As her life quieted and the demands lessened, she found herself pulling in. Her energy level fell. Some days she didn’t leave home. While she still clearly loved her children and grandchildren, sometimes they felt like more demand than blessing. She didn’t always feel like teaching her Sunday School class. Sometimes she could not even bring herself to go to church. Her health failed in many ways. She began to not even recognize herself.
She had remembered her mother as very difficult and had worked to make peace with the complicated feelings her mother stirred. One day she had the horrible realization that the very one she had idolized had sexually molested her for much of her childhood, only stopping when she reached
