Relationships Under Construction: A 14-Day Journey into Your Relationship

About this ebook
Jason Atkinson
I did not want to live an ordinary life any longer. It was time for me to make a change and start using my mind in a completely different way. A Life of Heart is a reflection of that, and I hope that it becomes something of a statement for readers as well. I didn’t deal with a life-altering tragedy until my midtwenties, and it took me a few years to really grasp what was and is still happening to me. But that doesn’t stop me from pursuing my dreams and living a life of heart in the process. I currently live with my wife and son in the Midwest, and even though life isn’t always fast paced, my mind began to work that way. I love where I live, and I love my family. Writing this book just showed me more ways in which I can compliment them with my actions and my words.

Introduction: Getting Things Organized
I wrote this fourteen-day workbook to help you all understand how to make your relationships great, powerful, and full of life again. I won’t say it is easy, because I know firsthand that it isn’t. Failing and misunderstanding are part of the daily grind when it comes to mastering your relationships—specifically, in this case, the relationship you have with your significant other.
Before you dive into this book, I believe I should tell you a few things. When I read books myself, I often tend to skip the introduction because it is usually very long and not what I care about most (just being honest with you). But I hope you don’t do that here. I wrote this book to help people. Some of it may seem plainly obvious, but it is often those obvious things that we forget about.
For example, you know where you put your car keys 99 percent of the time. But what if I showed up and moved them to a new location without telling you? You would be frantic when searching for them. This is because your brain works like muscle memory for your body. You get so used to doing something in the same way, and then when change happens, you lose your grip.
This workbook should hopefully make you move your keys and loosen you up, just slightly. I don’t want you to do the same things you have always done with your relationship. You wouldn’t be reading this book if you didn’t need some kind of change to happen. I know change is hard, but it is also inevitable. How you take care of that change is what makes the biggest impact in and around your life. If you ignore the change that is coming, you will just end up being the same person you were when the journey began. But if you accept that change can bring something new and revolutionary to your life, who knows what might be at the end of the tunnel waiting for you?
I urge you to read this book with an open mind. A relationship between two people can be a tricky topic, and you might not be comfortable openly discussing each section with your partner, but I assure you it will be worth it. If you are able to do this, I think you will find relief and happiness at the end of it all. You may not agree with everything I have to say, but that’s okay. I don’t expect everyone to think how I think or act how I act.
