Author

Farrah D. McBride

I first recognized my creativity as a writer after winning an essay contest as child and being published in a local newspaper. It has been my dream to become a writer ever since. I was raised in single-family household with my three siblings in Augusta, Georgia. I left home at eighteen to serve my county. After several years in the service, I left to raise my son in Maryland, where I completed my bachelor’s degree in health care administration and human resource management.

    Introduction

It amazes me, the things we remember as a child and the things we forget. I was about five years old; my mother, siblings and I lived in a one bedroom shack in a small country town in Georgia. The house was around the corner from Deli Mac. It wasn’t too far from Briarwood apartments. There were times when we didn’t have running water. So my Mom would walk across to the neighbor’s house to fill a bucket with water, so we could have water to cook, drink and bathe. I learned at that very moment, the strength of a mother and that she would do whatever necessary to take care of her children. Even if this meant denying herself of some things in order for her children to have what they needed. My mother demonstrated to me unconditional love and the love only a mother could have for her children. Nevertheless, as a child I needed the love of my father too.

"Now as he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus
