Like many people, Priyanka Chopra Jonas found herself with time on her hands when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Production on her TV series Citadel screeched to a halt, and she and husband Nick Jonas quarantined together in their Los Angeles home. While the actress, 38, savoured that togetherness, the uncertainty about the virus and the impact it was having on everything rocked her. “I was feeling emotionally unstable,” she admits. But she soon found an upside to the enforced break: she had committed to writing a memoir, and after 20 years of working nonstop – beginning when she was crowned Miss World in 2000 – she suddenly had the hours and the contemplative state of mind to get it done. “It was like a personal diary when I started writing,” she says. “I had the ability to reflect on things that still are very, very emotional for me.”
