Poetic Pariahs

The Poetic Pariahs is a group of ten teenage poets hailing from the United Arab Emirates. Together they bring their own versatile tastes, emotions, experiences, and styles to their writing. The poets involved in this book aren’t most striking for their literary merit but rather for how relatable they make their poems. They shed light on what the current generation of teenagers goes through—a curry of romance, insecurity, pressure, ambitions, and so on.

    Almighty Listener

Knelt down, he clasped his hands,

Eyes shut, as did the world around him,

    A seeming state of reverie,

    A pause with no suspense,

Words start pouring from his mouth, his soul,

A silky flow, not the slightest quiver,

These words were not memory, they were inherent,

    A monotonous repetition of eulogy,

To the one and only with purported ubiquity,

    The Lord, the almighty,

    But he was no believer,

Religion was out of this man’s sphere,
