    Om

I believe my light will shine beyond miles traveled and the radius around me,

I believe that there’s no sun in the sky, just God’s warms rays of love; that’s why I run to them,

I believe in my daughters smile, the essence of joy,

The birth of a new and profound dimension to my life.

I believe I am equipped to achieve all the greatness placed inside of me.

I believe that my drive makes some run,

Only my strong sista friends stay around now,

    Shallow suitors take a bow.

I believe in my art and its many lessons.

I know and believe that time is a blessing.

I do not believe in defeat.

I am my great grandmother’s great grand daughter,

I believe I owe her this.

She prayed low and set her sights high,

And now she watches me with a full heart from clouds in the sky.

    I believe in victory,

And I believe it is already done,

Before I even unsheathe my sword,

    The battle is already won.

    Foreword: A Mother Watches

A mother watches, looking for the dreams

    To be dreamed

    To be aspired to

    To be dashed

    And then magnificently retrieved

    About Love

How can it be done so as not to cause pain?

Is it the pain that carries the worth of it?

    The sacrifice of self

That fulfills the need to be fully human?

    About God

There cannot only be the one in whom YOU believe

The absence of unity under the spirit

    Prevents holiness and

Religion causes division if it is only one

And impedes the need to be fully human

    About Revolution

    Outraged by injustice

Affronted by the reality of those not having, knowing, dreaming

Who but you will say the truth?

    Will call upon those who

    Have the privilege of privilege?

Will stand for all to be fully human?

    A mother can only observe

    Love, believe, revolt, then watch

    Can only dream the child
