About this ebook
Paul Easter
Poet, aspiring songwriter, author, preacher’s son, a brother, a Christian, and friend, Paul Easter is a born dreamer. He is a child of the hip-hop culture. After he graduated Gaston College with an associate of arts with focus in business administration, he couldn’t deny his affinity for poetry anymore. It started when he was in middle school and one day he read some of his sister’s poetry he found while rambling through her stuff. It was creative, it was eye-opening, and the words spoke freedom. He wrote his first poem in English class at W.C. Friday junior high about a girl he had feelings for. So after his completion of college, he decided to give poetry more time and energy. Because of his wishes to be respected by his peers, he joined Poetry Soup. He has been a member on the poetry website since 2009. He has two top ten finishes in poetry contest he has entered in. He has also had pieces of his poetry published on the Internet. He has written songs for himself and for others. He has also performed some of his original work live. He worked with God Factor Records as an artist and also he has worked with Dallas Music, helping create behind the scenes. Music and writing has always been his safe haven. It’s the vibrations and the message that always touches his soul. It’s a perfect marriage of words and sounds that makes a poignant message. What else would you expect to come from the soul of a preacher’s kid?

We must first be awake and knowledgeable of our surroundings before we can determine what’s right or wrong to help ourselves and to impact others.

A POETS PRAYER
L ord bless this Pen?
Through it I shall accomplish all that you have for me.
The things that I dream, believe, and see for the world.
Let it bring those endless journeys to an end.
Let the ink flow as blood to those in need,
Let it pump life through those who have forgotten about who they are.
It’s a breath to those who has lost their need to breathe life.
The letters of this pen will never bleed.
Lord let it awaken old minds.
Let it bring to focus those things that are out of focus in our lives.
The things that bind us to this world will be loosed.
Let it captivate those new minds.
Let it be a revolutionary.
It will cause us to think abstract.
It will bring about a great change.
Let it start up great social commentary.
Let it write words to expose.
Let it bring out my inner most thoughts.
Bring out their inner most feelings.
It will bring to pass things that only you know.
Lord please bless this pen?
It tells a story written by you.
It’s manifested through me.
Let it take man through a journey with no end.
Amen.

L ost amongst life’s arid and dry dessert,
Scorched and dehydrated by just living.
I crawled with all that I had left from all the hurt,
Mirages appear as my soul searched for healing.
Eyes squinting appearing before me was an oasis,
But could this be an image of what I just wished to be?
It was real as I sipped from its water and sweet is how it tasted,
It moistened the dry lips like medicated relief.
I sipped from the very hands that carried me across life’s terrain,
Its waters seemingly washed away all the debris as I cradled it.
They moved through my skin washing out life’s stain,
Helping my soul forget.
The fruit from which the water helps bear is vibrant,
Its nectar was only rival by the waters sweat spring.
In its seeds I gain my
