Author

Nathaniel Cole Noland

These poems and stories are the direct result of the blessings that were given to me by My Lord for placing Him and His truth before my family. I chose to testify against my father for a murder he committed in front of me at the age of 13. I was disowned and hated for doing it by my fathers family. As time passed, I became more lonely until I ended up thinking about Christ on the cross saying “ Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” My heart was convicted and I had to forgive my family for the way they disowned me. When I did, a veil was lifted and I started seeing the world like I did as a child. These poems are my understanding of what God wants me to know about Him and all of lessons of His creations. May they bless you as much as they have me.

Very repetitive and everything felt forced. Feels fake, honestly. Extremely holier-than-thou and judgmental, wouldn't recommend to anyone, it's kinda poorly written.

Silence

3/18/1996

It’s not often that beauty will hold a poet’s tongue,

Thus ceasing the words that would otherwise flow.

It appears that although I have engraved images of you

warming my thoughts,

I am left with inadequate verse and rendered helpless

while trying to articulate the beauty that I behold!

And if words left unsaid are a compliment,

then I’ve already said far too much.

Now I favor my fear of describing you

because I’m sure that all of my attempts will fail.

If I can’t express myself with pure eloquence,

I’ll fall far short of my intent,

and those efforts would be unworthy

of such a beautiful, deserving soul.

Since it’s beyond my control, I’ve let it go.

I can only give you what my weakened lips can offer.

All I can adduce, right here, right now,

Is encased in this:

my underscored praise

in silence …

***

This details my failure to write about the beauty of my friend, Caroline. All I could remember about my first encounter with her was that she had beautiful eyes and an incredibly beautiful soul.

She was so beautiful inside that I couldn’t remember the color of her eyes or what she was wearing. I felt a little embarrassed that I couldn’t remember her features. I admit that I was proud of myself also for only caring about what she looked like on the inside.

This was a simple attempt on my part to capture that overpowering beauty that she possesses. Though I tried to write, I kept falling short of a worthy description of her inner beauty. In the poem, I finally relent and say that all I can do is praise her with my overwhelming silence.

In case you are wondering, she is incredibly beautiful on the outside too.

Caroline, I love you!

Don’t change

to live in this world.

Live to change it!

Don’t look for someone

you’d be willing to die for.

Look for someone

you’d be willing to live for.

I’ve come to the realization

that I’ve only a very vague idea

about what is really going on.

Love, patience, understanding—is there anything else you really need?

I’m unworthy of all the trials you’ve put
