About this ebook

I wrote this poetry from the different aspects of life we encounter times of hopelessness, loneliness, joy, accomplishment and the need to be independent.
I hope you will feel the passion, the pain, and the love written in the contents of these pages and come away with the feeling that it gave you some direction or fulfillment that you needed. I do hope this story give teens the courage to say no to abuse when dating, and find the courage to leave a volatile relationship.

Joanne Joyce Green

I was born Joanne Joyce Williams. I later married Donald Joseph Green. Poetry came into my life early as a child of eight. Sitting under the table while mother sang. I turned her words into poetry .That time inspires me. I find that period, one of the more peaceful times in my life. My mother’s visits still inspire me even now, at her tender age of ninety one years. Poetry gives me pleasure, relaxation. It a special time and place, where I find peace and quiet, and some time wild adventure. Poetry lets me be a child, or a host of many wonderful things. I thank God for giving me a wild imagination, and the intelligence to know how to use it. Poetry is my first love. And it hasn’t disappointed me yet. Getting my career started late in life, I find to be a blessing of sorts. And if knowledge comes with age, I am only too glad to share it with you. I take great pride in the publishing of this book.

    A Woman of Great Beauty

    A woman of great beauty

Is not measured by her outer shell

She is measure by her soul

    The soul of a woman

Is a thousand times more beautiful

Than the strands of hair on her head

More beautiful than the shape of her body

Or the tone of her skin

    The soul of a woman

    Is goodness, generosity and caring

A kind word when all others are silent

An attentive ear when needed to be heard

The soul of a woman is

    A forever lasting friendship

When all other backs are turned

That one light touch that says it all—

    I love you—without words

Yes this is the soul of a woman

A true woman of great beauty.

    Too Long Away

    Oh gracious one

    My precious one

How long have I been gone

Through many wars and endless times

    This fate I did endure

But not to see your gorgeous face

Or hear your voice no more

This, no, I cannot bare to face

I would rather die in vain

Than live a lonely life without you

Could you possibly feel my pain

Take once my hand, my darling girl

Through your love walk me again

I will hold this moment within my heart

Though I will never see you again

In my mind forever, this moment will last

Hoping fate will touch us again.

    Enlightened Heart

A knock came to my door I went and opened it. There stood my small friend, her hand clutched firmly behind her small frame. As she stepped closer, her eyes opened wide with a sparkle that only the angels could have put there. Slowly she unclasped her hands and put them in front of her. She reached out both hands that held the prettiest card ever made by human hands. And with a smile and a crinkle of her nose, my little friend announced in a quiet little voice, Happy birthday, and put the card in my hand. My spirit was lifted so high that all the drudgery of hard work and pain left me in an instant, and my heart was light, and my day was now brighter and undisturbed.

(Thank you, my little friend and darling granddaughter Vanessa;)
