Man's Imitation of Life and Desire: The 2Nd Ultimate Book of True Poetry
()
About this ebook
Best wishes, David J. I am including a very deep poem here... It it called
"A Woman of Strength"
I need to tell you a story about a woman I know,
Listen closely to this story as I let it flow,
Alone in her room in the dark as the tears fall,
Thinking about her life and how she gave it her all.
Her mind has been so abused along with her face,
With the black and blue marks, her swollen eyes, leaving only a trace,
The hurt and pain from his hand, leaving the scars within,
The tears fall from her eyes leaving her with nothing.
How she tries to smile but the pain gets in the way,
So many times Ive tried to tell her not to stay,
But she stayed anyway thinking everything would be fine,
Knowing hed be home soon, as she walked that thin line.
Finally he came home and again she started to shake,
So scared as you thought, how much more can you take?
He raised his hand to you once again as you hid with fear,
Wishing so hard it would all stop, including the tears.
Once again, alone in your room, with your head in your hands,
As the blood dripped down your face right where you stand,
This time it went too far, as you fell to the floor,
As you stood up, looking at him face to face,
You told him to go to hell, walking out and forever closing the door.
David J. Poplstein
David J. Poplstein As promised, this is Part Two of my collection of poems adding to my first book: Man’s Imitation of Life and Desire (Part One). I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio. I started writing in the early 1980's during high school. I always had a gift for writing to touch someone’s heart in one way or another. Whether it is my life or your life, or even if it relates to someone you know and who you are close to. Most of my poems are written about true-life experiences (hence: The 2nd Ultimate Book of True Poetry) some are about my life, and some are about people I have met and the ones I know and love. I enjoy writing and some of my work has been used in music with: Singer, Songwriter, and Composer, My Uncle, (Benny Carr) from Cleveland/Parma Heights Ohio, along with being used in other venues. This collection of poems is also dedicated to some very special women throughout my life who have been my inspiration for me to write many. They know who they are and I thank them all for being in my life and loving me back then. I also thank God for this gift of writing and some of my inspirations for my book, as I am an Ordained Minister since 2003. I thank my family for being there for me and encouraging me to go for it! I hope you enjoy these poems as much as I did writing them. Best Wishes, David J.

Will the coldness of your heart ever break the silence within?
If only you could open your mind and heart to love again,
Each day I find the pieces of my heart lying on the ground,
I surely hoped it was love, within you that I had really found.
Still wanting to hold on to the memories you left in me,
Although they just seem to fade in my mind completely,
If you only saw all the things in my hands that I store,
Such beautiful things that evolve around you, and so much more.
Can the miracles of love ever keep your heart from turning to stone?
If only you would’ve opened your eyes and saw into the unknown,
A true life of love and passion like you only dreamed,
But you turned and walked away, losing it all it seemed.
Falling back in my mind to the times I held your pretty hand,
The times watching the sunset with you, playing in the sand,
Taking you places you never thought were possible, like a dream,
The moonlight with you, the warm air, in your arms, your eyes gleamed.
I will always keep the precious memories of you clear,
Thinking back once again, to the sweet times you were here,
Years later I know you’re gone, falling away with no more,
Walking away from what we had together and shutting the door.
The Pain You Left
The dust settles among the ruins, my mind seems to fade,
Sixteen years have passed, recalling what I’ve lost or made,
Those few years with you were a time I’d rather not recall,
For the pain you left in me, when I gave you my all.
Some of those times were a pleasure, some not so sweet,
Times I recall giving you all my love, laying it at your feet,
How I loved you so, nothing could ever compare to you,
You were my world, my wife and my love and you knew it was true.
There was nothing that I wouldn’t do, but you walked away,
Years later I come to realize, that you wanted it that way,
The hurt and pain you left goes beyond any measure,
Being with you then at times, was always a pleasure.
I can still remember the tears as they rolled down my face,
At times all those memories pour in, taking me to that special place,
The pain in my heart overwhelmed me, nowhere to hide,
Even now my mind still takes me on a wild ride.
Being married to you was supposed to last forever,
Although time played its game, and you left us severed,
Once in awhile I close my eyes and see your face,
The hurt and pain of losing you, I surely want to erase.
Game is Played
The silent thoughts are still left over in my mind,
Hoping the day will bring love and its you I find,
The days pass by so slow, thinking of times before,
To give you the love that you deserve and yet so much more.
Wishing I could stop your pain and the tears from falling,
For when the night closes in, your name I am calling,
Wishing the moments with you will only bring the best,
To the point where you forget the pain and all the rest.
Only you can seem to break the silence from within,
Where you my dear can see the truth and surely bring it in,
The times those lies hurt you so, from past days,
As you try to cover up the pain yet in so many ways.
But to know avail, your heart is broke and the game has been played,
Breaking the limits of time, being glad now that you never stayed,
To walk hand in hand with you would be so sweet,
If I only had the chance to lay my love at your feet.
For time takes away the pain of love from the past,
But now I promise to give you a love that will forever last,
Only the truth I’d give you, forever deserving it so,
Within me, this is one of many things I long for you to know.
Shattered
Nothing is more painful than your heart being torn apart,
By being in love and they walk away, without a start,
A start of friendship and love, how can one walk away?
From someone so true and caring, but you decided not to stay.
You turned your back and closed the door,
Not wanting to find out what was in store,
You just kept to yourself, and shattered my heart,
Without a care, you faded, ripping us totally apart.
I hope you’re happy now, and found what you need,
Leaving this hole in my heart, only left to bleed,
Funny thing is, that you don’t even care anymore,
How you hurt me so, leaving my heart lying on the floor.
I doubt the fact that you even think of us anymore,
Facing the fact that I lost all I had in store,
Sometimes the hurt and pain you left surely returns,
I just hang my head in my hands, and in my heart it still burns.
I know now the miracle of love never came true,
As I courted you and on one knee I asked to marry you,
Back then I thought it was love, you and me forever,
But now I’ve gone on, and things back then I’d rather not remember.
You Walked Away
Finding myself falling in my mind, into my dreams,
Loving all the memories we shared or so it seems,
Some good and some bad, just holding onto those that makes me smile,
Thinking in my mind if I could only see you, if it’s only for little while.
Not wanting to remember the pain and hurt you put me through,
Back then there was nothing I would not do for you,
This you knew in your mind, but hell, you left me anyway,
It wasn’t until years later that I figured out the game you played.
It was the true game of swift lies from you, full of deceit,
Leading me on the whole time, until you knocked me off my feet,
You never looked back; because it didn’t matter to you that I was left alone,
Those nights alone with you, out the window our love was blown.
All I wanted was forever with you, was that so wrong?
It didn’t turn out that way as I looked again, and you were gone,
Into the arms of another man, who was playing on your mind,
For it never lasted anyhow, and you thought this you’d never find.
So now you are left with none, for both of us walked away,
I hope this is what makes you happy as you go on each day,
Surely I hope you find what it is that you seek,
For you, in my mind, your future looks quite bleak.

(Lisa M)
Can you remember when we used to walk in the park?
In late hours in the grass, way after dark,
I still see you now
