Hi, I am Steven Alexander, or as my friends call me, “S.K.,” and I have been composing poetry since I was 13 years old. Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, I have always strived to make my poetry innovative and thought provoking, while not sacrificing simplicity. Having ties to the north while being raised in the south, has allowed me to have a unique perspective on life and individual cultures and differences. I have attempted to focus on expressing that unique hybrid into my body of work. A “Road that leads to no answers,” is a combination of love, self observing, and heart wrenching poetry, which is an honest account of my life’s perspective. These poems reflect on my life’s history including my relationship with my father and friends, and my handling of my sexuality. A bond that is not broken,

something life has given us with a golden token,

a partner you are and that is unspoken,

and forever our unity will last, is what I am hoping.

The truth of the matter is,

the way we stick together is uncalculated by this whiz,

and how your love has touched my life and those of my kid.

As long as you are in my corner, like a coach to a gymnast,

I will always be hypnotized, as you are my hypnotist.

Together, whenever, wherever, I pray our partnership will continue beyond this day.

Cherish

I will cherish you from our life’s birth,

to the time we return to our dusty earth.

Come my darling for the time has arrived

for me and you to become one and take love’s ride.

Stay and I will cherish you and adore you,

for there is no one out in this world who does what you do.

Believe me for these words I speak are true,

darling, darling, why don’t you understand or give me a favorable clue.

Speak, speak, move thy lips and speak

don’t leave me in the dark again.

I demand you to open thy lips of pale colour

and at least say to me I am not like any other.

Speak, I say, speak, nod your hairless head and speak

make your lifeless body speak,

darling, why don’t thy speak.

Fire

I associate my love with fire,

burning full of life and desire.

I would be the earth,

flat and to trees and to good things I have birthed.

Together fire and earth will spread,

causing our enemies who cannot cope with our love to dread.

I cannot live without you because you are one with me,

you cannot live without me because I am one with you.

Open your heart and see my love,

see that you and me will be together forever in the heavens above.

Come with me and I will give you life,

full of harmony, and ever so willing to make things right.

Come and be my wife, my soul and my FIRE.

Keys to my heart

Why do you torture me,

why do you make promises to me that you cannot keep?

You have the keys to my heart,

the keys to my heart.

Your heart is not open,

but mine is.

There is nothing more for me to do,

then to sit, be patient, and wait on you.

Keep the keys because they open the gates to my heart,

you and only you have the keys to my heart,

and in your possession is the world’s most precious thing.
