How We See
By Rachel Edwards and Gabriel Watson

About this ebook
A dive into the minds of two teens during the moments that shape their futures, and an attempt to bridge the gap between what we think we understand and the journies that define it.
In this compilation of tragedy, love, loss, depression, and happiness you will find the questions that arise as we move through life in the twenty first century and realise that the walls we build around ourselves might not be so different after all.
Rachel Edwards
Rachel Edwards is an only child of just 18 and a senior at Lumberton High School in Lumberton Texas. She began writing in her early teens as an outlet to relieve the pressures of growing up from having divorced parents, the first of many heartbreaks, and the struggle to find self-understanding. She has also been an active member of the arts since a young child, performing in talent shows, musicals, and various choruses. She plans to study Political Science, Psychology, and Business in college in preparation for Law School and hopes her thoughts will help other young souls like herself find peace among the chaos.

If I
Could fall into
The wonderful mystery of you
I would
First Love
It all happened in a split second
How my world turned upside down
One moment I was alone and digging myself out of my own destruction
And the next you’re there
Making me laugh
Holding my hand
Wiping my tears away
Seeing me as the girl I was before
That first date together
I could tell you were reluctant to kiss me
But when you finally did
The night felt complete
You’ll always remember the smell of his cologne, the color of his shirt, the way his eyes sparkled with intensity
You’ll never forget how close his body was to yours or how soft his hands were on your face
You’ll always remember how the breeze blew hair in your face only for him to cast it away
You’ll never forget the distance decreasing ever so slowly as he leaned forward, pulling you close
You’ll always remember the feeling and you’ll never forget the scene of a first kiss
I must tell myself I don’t love you.
I don’t know what love is so how can I love you, but if I don’t know what love is how would I know if I do love you?
Thoughts of you each day, touching you this way, wanting to see your face, holding in all this pain,
Is this love or am I insane?
Smiling at your quirks, wishing this could work, you hold me so tight, I feel my heart take flight.
These butterflies inside
Do they mean love
Or am I too young to decide?
If I asked you to take this playdough and mold the image of your perfect woman, the one you describe to me every day, with your eyes closed, what would she look like at the mercy of your hands?
Would she have a petite figure, one small enough to carry up the stairs
Would she have lips so full you’d want to kiss them all the time
Would her nose be cute and short,
