About this ebook

The Simple Life portrays the used-to-be life of the author and his family back when fifteen children were raised by the same dad and mom through a simple means of living - farming. Readers will be taken back in time with the authors rich and vivid descriptions of the past. The autobiographical novel also includes a brief history of the Howell ancestry, the authors childhood memories, the time when he was drafted in the military to Korea, and the moment he met his wife for the first time.

Spanning a century of intertwined lives and stories, The Simple Life is a great reminder for people of todays modern times that simplicity still outweighs the most complex when it comes to the sole pursuit of happiness.

I Autobiographical Novel Reminds Readers to Lead The Simple Life

THE FOLLOWING IS A BRIEF STORY I WROTE ABOUT SOME OF THE THINGS THAT HAPPENED WHILE GROWING UP IN A LARGE, FARM FAMILY.

I WILL START BY SAYING A FEW THINGS ABOUT OUR FAMILY THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW. THERE WERE FIFTEEN OF US CHILDREN. PAPA WAS BORN IN 1897 AND MAMA IN 1903. THEY WERE MARRIED IN 1923 AND ROSELLA WAS THE FIRST CHILD TO GET MARRIED. NEXT TO THE OLDEST SON, ALTON, WAS KILLED IN WORLD WAR II WHEN 18 YEARS OLD. SIX OF THE EIGHT BROTHERS IN THE FAMILY SERVED OUR COUNTRY IN THE MILITARY. ELDER, ALTON, METRO AND CLAYTON SERVED IN THE ARMY. JOE SERVED IN THE NAVY AND L.N. IN THE MARINES. CLEMON AND PISTOL WERE EXEMPT. PISTOL, CLAYTON, JOE, AND L.N. ARE THE ONLY BOYS LIVING TODAY. THE FIVE GIRLS ARE ALL STILL LIVING. FOR FUN SAY THEIR NAME FAST FROM OLDEST TO YOUNGEST. ROSELL, MARCELL, VERMELL, ESTELL AND DORTHYNELL.

Before I start I have a good piece of advice for the younger generations.

Take pictures and save all of them you can. Keep a diary or just notes of things that happen while you’re young and also on in to your later years.

It is difficult to remember and naturally we forget some real important events. I’m on up in years myself and regret not having something to help me as I try to recall my past. Also, I realize that our past is very important.

Often times more important to others than to our self. Bobbie fixed some
