TURKEY ON PATROL
Some of us have dogs. Others have turkeys. We had a turkey who thought he was a dog. After reading “Dogs with Jobs” (Our View, March/April 2022), I thought you might like to hear about Bubby.
We live on a small “city farm” with a large garden and a chicken coop. The backyard has a fish pond and a bubbling fountain for soothing sounds. It was my peaceful “getaway” place until Bubby the turkey came to live with us.
He started out small. Bronze feathers peeked out from his down, and his perky brown eyes watched our every move. I wasn’t too concerned until he began to fill out and grow — a lot. We built a separate pen for him, close enough so he could see the chickens but not peck them.
