Words by Watson: Poetry for All Ages

About this ebook
I just want the readers to be comfortable: with themselves, with the world, and with me.
Walter H. Watson Jr.
Biography Walter Watson, M.Ed, was born in Richmond, VA, in 1947. He was educated in the Public Schools of Prince George County, VA, and Petersburg, Va. A Vietnam era veteran, he is an undergraduate of the University of Tennessee school of Business, and received a Master’s Degree from the University of Mary Washington School of Education. Walter began writing poetry and essays after a stint in the military from 1968 to 1973. He fancies himself a romantic, and chooses to see the beauty of the human experience as it relates to the everyday affairs of people. Too frequently, he surmises, people look for the right person rather than assume responsibility for being the right person. His passion for publishing has been encouraged by his lovely wife, Dr. Thelma Bland Watson.

The Poetry of Walter H. Watson Jr.
April 5, 2007
Over the years, I have been inspired to capture in verse the essence of the events I have witnessed and people I have known. These are my reflections.
—Walter H. Watson Jr.
Spring Capers
Shedding crusty scales of
Winter’s futile rally
To dash any hope
Of spring’s eternal fire.
Dare embark with testy
Spirits, dashed by Winter’s
Gesture, come again to venture
Living treks midst winding paths.
Converse with trees dormant
A fossiled query, leaps
Later testimony of
Garden’s foreign pain.
Treatment, thoughtful gestures
Delights in suffering’s
Unique rewards when posed
‘neath caring skies.
New adventures, ode to spring
Fused folly, silly thoughts
Poised for acceptance
Hope is Spring’s dominion.
Lillie Mae
If ever a spirit were created to make events come alive,
The Godsend is Lillie Mae.
If a task required extraordinary perseverance to completion,
The handmaiden to success is Lillie Mae.
If hungry mouths needed the love and nourishment borne of
Food, clothed in self-sacrifice,
