loving me to pieces
about the book
Loving Me To Pieces is a collection of very raw and personal poems that derive from my own life’s experiences, thoughts and creativity. In this book, there are a million little things that are worked out delicately through the written word.
Things that have been left unsaid for far too long, and have just now made their way to the surface, with every piece of courage that was missing.
It explores the depth of pieces that have been lost, lonely and broken, as well as pieces that were found. Pieces which have been unaccepted by others, and worse, myself.
These are things that I have worked hard to define, and have learned through the process, that sometimes leaving them undefined, and learning to love them as they are, is enough.
The words written in this book cover a range of topics from struggles with mental health, to self-discovery, acceptance of oneself, sheer bravery, love and relationships, and how to navigate through this world with nothing but a reminder to always believe in oneself.
It is about love. Self love specifically, as well as what others need to understand or accept about me, and what it has taken to learn to love myself, and all of my broken pieces.
I hope this book helps and inspires others to worry less about who they are supposed to be, or who others would like them to be, and to decide for themselves, embracing and loving all of their little, imperfect pieces.
If you came
for a girl
Who is perfectly
Unafraid
Of her own
World,
You’ve entered
The wrong
One.
If you’ve come
For a girl
Who is unbroken
And steadfast,
With a heart
Stronger,
Than your undying
Nerve,
Then turn back
Around.
She doesn’t
Exist
Here
The best of us arise
Only after we have been
Broken, crumbled
On the floor.
Left only to collect
Our pieces.
One scrap of our lonely, beating, human
Hearts at a time.
And then we rise.
rise
the greatest benefit
The greatest
Benefit
To being
A little bit
Broken is..
You tend to see
Yourself
And the world
In a million
Other,
Different,
Yet beautiful
Pieces,
Rather than
Just
